Correct. Bird flu is widespread enough that you should not assume that it could not possibly be in your vicinity. We’re not testing enough to know for sure. Be sensible, take reasonable steps, avoid the stuff and help your fur people avoid the stuff.

Excellent thread on bird flu vaccines and why they’re not in the seasonal flu vaccine. If people can bring themselves to use an mRNA vaccine, and there’s no reason not to, we’ll be able to ramp up bird flu vaccines quickly when needed. I sure wouldn’t want to wait til next fall’s seasonal vaccine.
