A tale of two adaptors: One approaching the material with a view to hew as closely as possible to the original intent; the other with the desire to use the story to explore themes important to them, and to surprise and entertain. Both valid. 📽️ #filmsky #movie #odyssey www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

A book cover for WIRE CITY KILLS showing a colourful cityscape:

To some, he's a visionary innovator; to others, a dangerous provocateur. One thing everyone can agree on—he's just gone offline… permanently.

When infamous billionaire playboy Tyrell Gomes is found dead in his penthouse office in the high-rise heart of Silicon Valley's neon sprawl—apparently killed by his own company’s tech—an unlikely detective team faces a desperate scramble to crack the case and uncover a shocking mystery lurking beneath the city’s gleaming surface…

DC Kal Vickers is way out of his depth – a mild-mannered rookie investigator who accepted a cryptic invitation to swap his humdrum London beat for the tech capital of the world.

Detective Jules Brousse is the last angry technophobe – a tough-as-nails renegade cop running on empty after spending her best years battling the corporations … and taking nothing but L’s

The deeper the detectives dig, the more it becomes clear they’re in over their heads, and the stakes are far higher than they ever could have imagined. With time running out, they must track down the killer across the city, expose a dark conspiracy that goes far beyond simple murder, and if there's time, uncover the biggest technological leap since the actual wheel.

That's if they can put aside their differences and figure out how to work together. Turns out the fate of humanity might depend on it...

Perfect for fans of Blake Crouch, John Scalzi, and Cory Doctorow, don't miss the sharp and witty transatlantic crime thriller that's The X-Files meets Chinatown by way of Slow Horses and Beverly Hills Cop. This standalone book requires no further reading to enjoy. No form of artificial intelligence was used in the creation of this book or its cover.

Bluesky pals! I have a sci-fi graphic novel called DRIVE, & it's my favorite thing I've ever done! If you need a long, escapist read at the moment the entire thing is free to read, here: drivecomic.com (THIS PAGE: They Lack a Certain Joy)
PANEL 1: Now on the other side of the hologram, we see the FIRST MINISTER and the BUCKTOOTHED fillipod as their side of the hologram “boop”s off.
FIRST MINISTER: I worry about him, sometimes. He’s too alone among the humans.

PANEL 2: The FIRST MINISTER looks to the BUCKTOOTHED fillipod.
FIRST MINISTER: They lack a certain joy: an ability to see the magic this life can offer.
BUCKTOOTHED: He knows the sacrifice he’s making. And he knows how critical his role is. BECAUSE OF HIM, we were able to heal Tesskil, and begin building the star dancer fleet.

PANEL 3: The FIRST MINISTER turns to look at the BUCKTOOTHED filipod, holding one of his arms out.
FIRST MINISTER: Speaking of which: how many ships are we up to, this week?
BUCKTOOTHED: Well, we took that break for the bi-monthly Crêpe-a-thon…

PANEL 4: As the two fillipods continue talking, a third fillipod wearing a FLAT CAP runs in, all 14 of his limbs active in running.
BUCKTOOTHED: But we’ve now produced two hundred and forty-n—
FLAT CAP: SIR! SIR! Huge news from the engineering team!

PANEL 5: From behind the two fillipods, the FLAT CAP fillipod talks excitedly.
FLAT CAP: Your new initiative worked! It’s a major breakthrough! Now when the drive starts up…

PANEL 6: Same scene, then the FIRST MINISTER reacts with eyes bulging.
FLAT CAP: …It sounds like the most COME-HITHER FLAMENCO.
FIRST MINISTER: By god THEY’VE DONE IT!

After the bizarre murder of an infamous tech mogul stuns the world, an unlikely detective team face a desperate scramble to crack the case and uncover a shocking mystery lurking beneath Silicon Valley’s gleaming surface… BUY/READ (with #KU) UK: bit.ly/3SQDWty US: amzn.to/3SYUhv5 💙📚 #booksky
A book cover showing bold white text against a multicolored cityscape.

Blurb reads:

Book 14 in the series. When I started, I had no idea if Book 1 would even sell. Longevity is the real grind in this industry. Authors writing series, what changed for you between Book 1 and Book 5+?

I saw a YouTube video where a magician had ten of his friends climb up on a platform and made them all disappear. It was amazing! A middle aged man with ten friends!

a great song from a great album about the worst American president there could ever be: George W Bush. I haven’t checked recently, but I can safely say there’s no chance any president could ever match him in ego, ignorance, or sheer ineptitude
