I think folks are resting on their laurels. War is about attrition. Expensive over engineered limited capacity weaponry is no match for cheap disposable high capacity weaponry, especially over the long-run. Has nobody learned anything?

Yup. GDP looks really awful without data center buildouts. Huang’s business relies on them. It’s a bit of a joke though cuz the AI development regulation discussion doesn’t change anything on the hardware picks and shovels side. Not surprised by Diaper Donnie’s misunderstanding. Huang is baffling.

I think the IP infringements are unethical and deplorable. I think it’s funny you think this is unique to just one entity in “name bad country here” for AI. At some point reverse engineering does grant you expertise that others don’t have. You are underestimating a lot of things here.

I tend to believe the rumors swirling about OpenAI solving this recent math equation. As the story goes, it was 90% solved. They plugged it into unreleased lab model and spent ~$15m to solve it. It didn’t do anything that spectacular. It plagiarized work then cost them millions for a PR stunt.

I’m not sure people are paying close enough attention to this. I’m no expert but I’ve seen some estimates on compute and energy consumption with each new release. It’s exponentially more expensive and far more limited for applications.

It certainly isn’t goodwill. I think the real reason is a lot less nefarious, not that this isn’t part of it. The tech can’t achieve what’s promised. It is too expensive. Slow it down before the bubble goes pop.
