I think of Wilkie as maybe the last good republican

000

I only had one graded once. It took many months for them to do it.

Could Disneyworld have been kind of a prototype for a network state? I only found out it had some kind of private gov't when it had that dust-up with desantis and thought that idea was weird

wonder if it'd go good with this

Wow. I read that Neil Diamond was being considered to play Travis Bickle before they landed De Niro. Maybe there's an alternate universe somewhere where Taxi Driver was a very strange musical

000

Like how Wimpy's the only who's not even remotely scared. No hamburger, no need for a reaction from him.

Hope not a lot of people watch. I was disturbed when they kept showing Gaddafi getting killed on the news.

000

I was about to ask who the heck thought of that, but I see it's Archie McPhee, so that kind of makes sense

The one everybody gets wrong is Springsteen's cover of Manfred Mann's Blinded by the Light. Me, it was always Metallica's Enter the Sandman - instead of "exit light", i'd hear "eggs delight"

Don't have to worry about that disease in the lettuce with this one

Think it was because you didn't discuss Muppets in Space on the Hulk Hogan episode

Don't see a lot of movies based on post cards these days. Maybe that's an idea for skydance, since I hear they're doing one based on a restaurant now

Oh, that's one of my favorite segments from the whole series

Drew Blanc @drew-white.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Wow. This is the first I've heard they brought back a character from Sleepwalker

Metallus looks like he's baking something in the bottom right there

Bit of an idealist in that she thought her corruption would cost her her ambassadorship. Not in this administration

Is all of that even faster than just opening a book and reading it? Doesn't take that long to read Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus or something

040

Reminds me of one of the Andrew Vachss novels where his detective was investigating a white supremacist. they tried to make a breakaway state, and I think that was what they called it - Sparta

I know that woman's a murderer and all, but surviving an execution actually sounds really badass

000

I have a personal bone to pick with him over preventing me from ever watching a single episode of Close Enough

000

I still haven't seen the show. Honestly, I've always found Stewart to be the most boring of all Lanterns. At least in everything i've seen him in. Maybe there are some where he's alright

I like the 9 lives special. I think it's a good adaptation but also complements the graphic novel because it adds some different lives. And I like Paradise because it has Wolfman Jack

Drew Blanc @drew-white.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Well, if they're talking about the children's book...

The scene I think about every time I see a story about how much stuff David Ellison owns now

Drew Blanc @drew-white.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

What is the film that came out before you were born that you've watched the most times?

Ok. Yeah, I meant the cd distributor

110

Is Alliance Entertainment one of the companies they own now? I know they own the Critics' Choice dvd catalogue and they're somehow affiliated with Warners... or Turner... anyway that's who the TCM online store directed you to once they stopped selling DVDs

100

it was fun to listen to waiting for godot with bert lahr and trying not to picture the cowardly lion

000

thinking about what I would've done if somebody had bought a giant media empire for me when I was in my 20s... probably would've said I only want TCM and cartoon network, keep the rest

Be neat if Ketchup could end up buying some of their animation... or someone who's not an evil scumbag... maybe too much to hope for though

000

i don't know.. all the other times Warner merged it failed, but those were always with totally different companies, AOL, AT&T, etc... will it be different since they and Paramount were in really the same business already?

200

I don't think many places sell them a stick a piece. I always get them in bundles of 4

120

Surely the trekkies don't think they have to read all the novels... there's got to be like 800 of them. Just no way any 1 human could read do it

000

The American version of the Bridge was a little funny - towards the end of the 1st season it got so bad I gave up on it and wrote it off. But then the 2nd season somehow came back and totally redeemed it and got better than I ever thought it would be

Mark Trail's supposed to be sexy now

000

Might check this out. I need to find something other than elder scrolls to play

000

feel like, with him and Denny Hastert, it's kind of balancing out Dolly and Tim Curry going in one week

000

Maybe time to go back on J. G. Michael's podcast to catch up on all the crazy stuff since. Still one of the best episodes

000

Might to have to git another go one of these day. I think I had just finished this book by Carlos Martinez Moreno not long before that, and it was the same thing. Lots of torture

Haven't found much to read about Gwangju before - I tried Han Kang's novel last year but it was just too brutal for me. Like every page more torture and killing

100

From the sample, I think I'll like it more than the one Dylan did.

Someone ought to re-print his adaptation of Mole Show
