So glad I planted that spot of red. Can’t remember what it is though. The pear tree has already lost all its leaves and on the other side of the gate is a tiny cherry tree that was this year’s only addition. Today I will bring in the hammock and see if there is any mint left to harvest. Might bring a bit inside if I can find a suitable pot.

I found my knitting mojo somehow and swatched and cast on and then went hunting for the rest of this upcycled cobalt mohair. I am making a bottom up brioche pullover in the round. All of my (Ok, most of my) yarn is in this old trunk. I found the rest of this yarn. But apparently I already knit most of this into a top down broken rib pullover, and stopped because I could not find the rest of the yarn.

Hey, Canadian media. Can you please stop portraying Alberta as separatist? A minority of Albertans want to separate. The majority of us want to separate from the separatists. Report on that and the divisiveness the UCP has fomented.

Software for soft wear work
Today I spent some time updating my software suite. I will be moving forward with Affinity, Proton and Open office. I find charting and PDF software glitchy and temperamental for my purposes, and may end up coming up with my own solutions. I like double and triple checking chart and written instructions, and making sure that the charts fit evenly for all sizes.

After 12 years of daily commuting, I agree completely with Michael Hobbes. Avoid a "road bike." Their tires are too narrow for anything but perfect pavement and they're frames are designed for high speed turning -- too short to be safe or comfortable. You want to sit comfortably upright.

Sweater weather
We are almost at the end of October and the mercury hit 14 degrees today! Of course I have all the woolies I need, but I am itching to work through my stash. Even though shawls are my favourite to knit, I don’t know anyone who wears them, so I am trying to focus on mittens. It is busy season for tech editors and knit designers, and if you have a Christmas pattern bubbling away in the recesses of your mind it’s time to get writing, or postpone til next year.

Trying to start earlier every day, to keep up with kids on a steady schedule. Having designers around the world means I typically wake to new patterns that have been sent in the night by busy elves and fairies. Illustrated card, a red fairy with pink wings. Here is what we have arrived on: Wake up Breakfast Get dressed Head outside for some fresh air Math Reading (English or French) Lunch Art Writing (English or French) Some household activity Make dinner together So far so good. Teachers have been locked out. It seems like the Province is doing a lot of blustering, throwing posturing and messaging at the problem. Hopefully we all stand strong.
