Most underserved groups actually showed lower mortality risk. But LGB+ individuals had a persistent elevated risk for deaths of despair, and the health inequalities facing Irish Travellers were striking. doi.org/10.1016/j.ss...

Are underserved groups always disadvantaged when it comes to mortality? We looked at this using Census-linked data for the entire adult population of Northern Ireland. The answer is more complicated than you’d think.

At today’s launch of the new report and animation from @adrcni.bsky.social, led by @drsarahmckenna.bsky.social, on children’s social care and homelessness in NI: The evidence shows the disproportionate burden on young people with a social care history, especially at key transition points.
Printed copy of the report titled “Children’s Social Care and Homelessness in Northern Ireland: Connecting Data, Changing Futures,”Slide showing key findings from the report. It highlights that homelessness disproportionately affects young people with a social care history and peaks at key transition points.
