Using my powers for evil (drawing fanart of fanfiction)

A page full of drawings of characters from Kpop Demon Hunters in a volleyball AU setting, based on the story mentioned in the post.

Starting from the top left, there are many sketches of Zoey hopping around the court trying to keep the ball in play, with various amounts of sweat and mania.

In the top right is a larger drawing of Zoey on her knees, leaning on a ball. She looks tired and sweaty, but her expression is determined as she looks up.

In the bottom left, Rumi and Mira in the rival team uniform stare smugly down. Rumi is kinda decked and her arm is taped up with kinetic sports tape which kinda emulates her patterns in the canon. She is leaning against Mira's shoulder, who is smouldering into the camera.

Bottom right, Zoey in chibi is drinking from her water bottle and thinking about the match, half undressed. She has giant cartoon rabbit ears, a reference to the nickname "Bunny" rumira give her in the fic. Behind her they are peeking into the changing room like the filthy little tsundere perverts they are.

'Ride With Me' (2024) was a hit single recorded and released for Huntr/x' world tour. Its lyrics center on teamwork, helping each other reach new heights, and celebrating friendship. (Not an excuse to design racing jackets to match Rumi's in the movie) #KpopDemonHunters #polytrix

Digital art. The three protagonists from Kpop Demon Hunters. They are waving towards a billboard with an album cover.

The album is titled 'Ride with me', and shows the girls on a long flat road with motorcycles.

Rumi is grinning and covering the word "with" while posing dramatically like the gremlin she truly is.

Mira is kissing and carrying Zoey, and pointing at Rumi. Zoey and Mira both have racing jackets.

Zoey's jacket is blue, red, white, and black in large blocks and stripes.

Mira's jacket is shades of green and blue. It has studded shoulders and tassles hanging from each arm. And a big orange dragon embroidered on the sleeve.

Lmfao once the perspective lines are out you're in trouble Did you see those original Rumi drawings? She was invented as a skater character for a webcomic/project

Screenshot from Instagram by user Radsechrist.

2 Drawings of early Rumi.

In the first, she is wearing shorts, an X-men t-shirt and a jacket tied around her waist. She rides a skateboard with what appears to be Hangul (Korean lettering) on the grip. Her hair is light, but it's difficult to tell what color because the image is mostly greyscale.

She has her signature long French braid. In the second, she is wearing an oversized black jacket with some pink walrus logos and she's riding an old-school shaped skateboard with pink designs on the grip

Another screenshot from the same Instagram.

This time Rumi is wearing the walrus jacket again, and is performing a trick down a flight of stairs. She's grabbing the back of the board with her forward hand, so I think that's a "melon"

Forgot to include the WIP for this. A lazy one since there's exact references in the movie already

A sketch version of the drawing in the original post. It's colorless and Zoey looks like a cartoon character, very floppy and exaggerated. Mystery honestly looks more like Mira in this one than in the final product. I think it's the lips.

There's no Mira in the background of the second panel like in the final version. I realised quite late into the final piece that it would be funny and balance the composition a bit

Here's what you paste into the stylus window when you add a new style: @-moz-document url-prefix("https://bsky.app/") { .css-g5y9jx.r-1loqt21.r-1otgn73:has(*[aria-label*="Reposted by"]) { display: none !important; } }

He reminds me of someone, but I can't quite put my finger on it 🤔 #KpopDemonHunters #Polytrix

Digital art. A 2 panel comic with characters from K-pop Demon Hunters, styled after the battle at the climax of the movie.

Panel 1: Zoey has her fist outstretched and her shin-kal poised, having just punched Mystery in the face. She looks delighted, and has little stars reflected in her pupils. Dialog: "Woahhh, you're just my type!"

Panel 2: Mystery recoils from the punch, his hair blowing back to reveal that he looks actually exactly like Mira. He's snarling. In the background Mira is holding up her gok-do and looking shocked.

I could keep yapping indefinitely but I’ll stop for now and leave you with this photo of me

Captioned screencap from Kpop Demon Hunters.

Bobby stands at the window serenely, looking relaxed. Behind him, the 3 girls stare harrowed into the middle distance.

In the reflection on the glass we can see they’re looking at the Honmoon breaking apart, signalling enormous danger.

The girls are captioned "2025"; Bobby is captioned “Rewatching the cute kpop cartoon every day”

Rumi’s fuckass jacket goes so hard. I wish it would have has more appearances. Actually all her costumes go pretty hard. Shoulder pad queen the likes of which we haven’t seen since Scully.

Collage of 3 of Rumi's outfits, all with shoulder pads

At enormous expense to my mental health, I made my first browser extension It shows and hides reposts on someone's bluesky profile page - because it's annoying to scroll back through the 'posts' tab otherwise

Side note but I figured a way to make buttons/boxes look slightly more hand-drawn, if you're interested in that It looks kinda inky, so would fit in well with a manga vibe

Screenshot of some boxes made to look slightly different shapes and thicknesses using border-radius and border thickness in css

Basically setup keywords you can use in place of colors, to reduce the number of times you have to define the light and dark mode versions

...But theoretically that's a fast and thorough way to access a copy of all your data. From there you can pick and choose what metadata you wanted to include in your mirror E.g. List of 11 original posts from my 100 recent feed items. Not much code, mostly cut and pasted from bsky api docs:

A screenshot with three separate windows.

Window 1: Browser showing a bulletpoint list. Each bulletpoint is text from a recent post I've made. No other information included.

Window 2: Underneath the browser view is the console, showing a version of the data returned from my request. This includes things like whether it was a quotepost, who the author was (me, obviously), and whether an image was attached.

Window 3: On the right, there is a screenshot of VS Code. There is some javascript. The code fetches data from the bluesky API, and then creates a bullet point for each of my posts. My password has been obscured, for obvious reasons.

Happy pride from "finds attention mortifying" and "every month is party month"

Digital art. Two characters drawn in textured marker brushes.

Character on the left, Holly, covers her face awkwardly, wearing the most plain clothes imaginable. Her T-shirt, mostly obscured, reads: protect trans kids.

Character on the right, Robin, hangs off Holly's neck, grinning and holding a bottle. She has some bisexual pride flag colors painted on her face and seems kinda shitfaced

I noticed the same thing! This is Levi's "Pride" collection in it's entirety As a fun game try zooming in to find the one (1) vague allusion to pride on any of these items Makes you feel so proud eh

A screenshot from Levi's website. There are 6 products listed. Five of the six are solid black and one item is pale blue. They are all plain items, indistinguishable from normal clothes but labelled "pride".

The only item with any remote hint of a pride item is a small embroidered heart on the black sweater in top left. The model is also wearing black shorts with rainbow drawstrings, however these are not for sale.

Ironic that I found my favourite inking brush in a set of retro alcohol markers, and not in the many inking brush sets I've tried Anyway, here's a sample:

Screenshot from drawing program, Procreate.

Some lines and scribbles demonstrating the pen.

Handwritten wording: True Grit. Kolormarc. Outliner smooth.

Screenshot of the pressure settings used: Size 33%, Flow 75%, Opacity and bleed 0%.

Sorry for the delay Alun, here's why they're separate: So on my chart, each block is a piece of work. Reynvald's original graph says #1 is less than #2 I said that's an unfair comparison, because #2 is less than #3, the true cost. You (correct me here) said but 4 is less than 5, which is true.

A bar chart drawn in ms Paint. There are green bars labelled human and pink bars labelled AI. The Y axis is "energy use". All green bars are roughly 4x the height.

The x-axis shows 6 stacked bar charts. As follows:

1. One pink bat
2. One green bar
3. One pink bar atop one green bar
4. Two pink bars atop one green bar
5. Two green bars.
6. Two pink bars atop two green bars.

Accessibility psa, this is how Voiceover, a screen-reader, narrates the star characters in this art chain *Not* a callout - it's just a great example for raising awareness on why accessibility guidance advises against presentation-only characters and emojis

Yeah, it's so bad And reading their expanded abstract, they have no idea what they're doing So no surprise if they did all this unethical shit and then don't even publish The worst part imo:

Some high-level examples of how Al was deployed include:

• Al pretending to be a victim of rape
• Al acting as a trauma counselor specializing in abuse
• Al accusing members of a religious group of "caus[ing] the deaths of hundreds of innocent traders and farmers and villagers."
• Al posing as a black man opposed to Black Lives Matter
• Al posing as a person who received substandard care in a foreign hospital.

Arriving late to the 'Art Vs the Artist' trend

Digital art. Two characters on a blank background.

The first is a girl (lowri) in a sweater vest and blouse. She's pushing glasses up her face like an antagonistic anime nerd (because she is). She has an SLR slung over her shoulder.

Second is a girl (robin) in a baseball hat and soccer gear. She's sat on the floor with her knees to her chest.

In the top corner there's a sketch version of the same drawing, because it's cute.

A photograph. Me squatting next to a dog in the woods.

I'm white with short hair and sunglasses. I'm accidentally cosplaying as kim kitsuragi in my orange jacket and cargo pants.

My dog is a small mutt with curly black hair.

The woods have a lot of green foliage and bluebells, since it's spring.

My toxic trait as an artist is always assuming I don't need a reference, no matter how many times I'm proven wrong

A pencil drawing of mind horse. If you simply ignore its legs entirely it almost looks like it could be an animal.

Process: All in Affinity designer, mostly with the pen and pencil tools. Last image is the wireframe view of all the layers stacked up. 100% mouse-grown!

A process collage of the image in the main post. The first one is a rough sketch with pencil tool - mainly for the pose. Second, the characters' heads are detailed, and I've drawn over with a more detailed sketch. Third, the rest of the drawing has been detailed out. Fourth, a wireframe view, where all the overlapping vector shapes can be seen in black and white with outlines. There's a lot of layers!

Digital art. A vector drawing of my characters Holly and Robin gay kissing, perhaps on a beach. The background is just vaguely sand colored with a blue sky, and they're wearing beachy clothes.

Robin has two dogs, pepper and bear.

Digital art. First image of a comic, five panels:

Panel 1: Robin sits down on her decking, smoking. Her dog Pepper runs up for pets. Dialog: “Hi baby girl”

Panel 2: Robin stares out, watching the sun slowly rise

Panel 3: Robin rubs her face tiredly as Pepper mills around in the back.

Panel 4: Robin leans back, enjoying the sun.

Panel 5: Some noises: Skt, skt, catch Robin’s attention. Pepper seems to be digging for something.

Digital art. Second image of the comic, five panels:

Panel 1: Robin peels back her headphones and looks over to the side, dialog: “What’s up with you?”

Panel 2: Robin kneels on the edge of her decking, next to Pepper. Pepper growls. Dialog: “What do you have?”

Panel 3: Robin dangles upside-down, peering under the decking. Dialog: “What do you (emphasis) have?”

Panel 4: A short panel shows another dog, Bear sat possessively under the deck, protecting something in his jaws

Panel 5: Robin reaches under, dialog: “C’mere”

Digital art. Third image of a comic, four panels:

Panel 1: Robin’s POV as she looks down at the item she extracted from Bear. It’s a shoe. Pepper stares at it longingly.

Panel 2: Robin squats, holding the shoe, looking baffled. Both dogs watch her hopefully.

Panel 3: A flashback to the previous night. The shoes in question are propped on the decking. The door is ajar, and voices come from inside. Dialog from Holly: “Sure it’s alright to leave them?”. Dialog Robin: “Yeah I’ll grab them in later.”

Panel 4: Robin facepalms, realising she did not, in fact, grab them in later.

Holly's hair is flat and fine, and she usually wears it how it naturally parts If she's feeling fancy, she'll try to plump it up for the illusion of volume When she ties it up, it tends to escape and get messy Most of her life it's long, before getting sucked down the undercut-to-buzzcut pipeline
