THE BLACK NITE
UPRISING
Eight years before New York's Stonewall Riots, the Black Nite Uprising united a community,
awakened local activism,
and scored an early victory for the emerging LGBTQ rights movement in the United States.
On August 5, 1961, four servicemen went on a homophobic dare to the Black Nite, a well known LGBTQ tavern (400 N. Plankinton Ave.)
After losing a fight with Josie Carter (1941-2014) a black woman of trans experience, the men vowed to return and "clean up" the bar.
"We do not run from a fight," Josie replied.
"We do not run from anything."
Josie's courage was a call to action.
When the servicemen returned later that night, they faced over 70 customers who heroically defended their safe space from invasion,
In 2021, the Wisconsin LGBTQ History
Project obtained official civic commemoration ensure the Uprising
will never be forgotten.

Do y’all have those games where you’ve only seen footage of one part. Like everytkme you see it discussed in a video it always shows a specific part, no matter the creator or how old. Like I’ve never seen past the first level of Bubsy 1 or Medieval

Claire squats on the ground, her right hand holding her up, while a cigarette dangles from her mouth. She wears a leather jacket, blue skinny jeans with a white belt, leather fingerless gloves, and black Converse.

During some of the darkest moments of my life I’d often listen to Pet Sounds and wonder how Brian Wilson was able to make something like it with all the pushback he was getting. Genuinely awe inspiring and I wish I had strength like him Rest easy.

This lawsuit is brutal. One of the exhibits is the letter Universal sent to Midjourney, including a quote from a 2022 Forbes interview that I bet midjourney regrets

Universal did not permit, authorize, or license Midjourney to copy or use any of Universal's copyrighted works in connection with any version of its Image Service or to otherwise exploit Universal's works at any time. You acknowledged as much in a September 16, 2022 Forbes interview in which you confirmed that Midjourney never sought any copyright holders' consent to use or exploit their works:
Did you seek consent from living artists or work still under copyright?
No. There isn't really a way to get a hundred million images and know where they're coming from. It would be cool if images had metadata embedded in them about the copyright owner or something. But that's not a thing; there's not a registry. There's no way to find a picture on the Internet, and then automatically trace it to an owner and then have any way of doing anything to authenticate it.

TW- Murder, Animal Abuse & Homophobia Joss who played John Redcorn on King of the Hill and Chief Hotate on Parks & Rec was murdered protecting his husband. After years of homophobic threats reported, suspected arson.. nothing was done. They aren’t labeling this a hate crime. I’m SO heartbroken.
