Same tbh but I dont always stick to the plan. Played through HGSS and ended up with this team

One of Blake's 7 best supporting characters too! Del Grant in the Series 2 episode "Countdown". Genuinely a rich character elevated by Chadbon's performance and chemistry with Paul Darrow. RIP Tom Chadbon.

Never-ending, Binface is the tactical vote

Labour, the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats are expected to stand down in the Clacton by-election. The only other confirmed candidate besides Farage is Count Binface

Never thought I'd say this but I'm feeling pretty supportive of the Tories right now.

Nigel Farage announces resignation as MP for Clacton. This will trigger a by-election, which he has also announced he will stand in.

"Army of Ghosts" The ghosts invading while the Doctor and Rose were away was intriguing, as was the exploration of Torchwood. The sudden arrival of Mickey was perfectly done as well. The cliffhanger would be mind-blowing in 2006. Honestly a solid first part for the finale.

"Fear Her" Trying to depict loneliness and the friendship between an abused child who can't connect with her mother and the main antagonist who is isolated from its friends is good. There's just a few tonal issues with the Doctor being comedy alien and Chloe being shown as scary. Kel is great tho.

"Love & Monsters" This episode rested on Elton being a character we can relate to and root for, as well as not be annoying. Tick. Tick. Tick. The themes of finding friendship through fandom, and how obsession can get in the way of your relationships. Genuinely well done. Doesn't deserve the hate.

"The Satan Pit" Base under sieges are always welcome, and honestly this is a perfect example. It keeps the atmosphere, the enigma and the amazing characterisation. The stakes feel surprisingly real. Genuinely one of the best episodes in the entire show.

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 03/06/2026

"The Impossible Planet" Peak. There are no other words for it. It's impressive the amount of atmosphere there is in this episode when there is none on Krop Tor. The character work is sublime. Genuinely one of the best side cast in the whole show. Great worldbuilding too. A perfect story. Top tier.

"The Idiot's Lantern" Euros Lyn is a director I admire. Why the Dutch angles were relied upon here confuses me. What also confuses me is why the writing team decided to end it with Tommy going away with his dad at the end. I don't have much to say about the meat of the episode since it's just fine.

"The Age of Steel" I love the brutality of the Cybermen in this and the absolute gut punches that the side characters' deaths give me. This 2-parter put the work in with the side cast and also really hammers home what should disgust you about the Cybermen. Perfect reintroduction to this iconic foe.

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 20/05/2026

"Rise of the Cybermen" Great premise. Advancement of technology without abandoning the original focus of the Cybermen. Love all of the parallel world and commentary on capitalism this episode sets up. Only issue I have is Rose. It feels like she's regressed, and what was that comment about Lucy?

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 06/05/2026

"The Girl in the Fireplace" The season feels like it's properly starting here. New adventure for the new TARDIS team and a lot of character work for them and Madame de Pompadour. I love the Clockwork Droids and their motives. The usage of Time Travel is genuinely inventive. Top tier of the season.

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 29/04/2026

"School Reunion" Does what it needs to do. Even though the plot is light, the character work is strong. The Doctor, Sarah, K-9, Rose, Mickey and even Mr. Finch all excel in characterisation, and the Krillitane are a cool concept. Overall, makes me feel warm and fuzzy after and that's its purpose.

120

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 23/04/2026

"Tooth and Claw" Honestly, just a fun base under siege story. Only real issue is how aggressively Rose tries to win the "not amused" bet. It did get quite annoying. Still, not enough to ruin my enjoyment of Dr Who fighting a werewolf.

110

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 15/04/2026

"New Earth" The first misfire to be honest. While I like the vibes and performances, I really do not think the premise gels with the body swap gimmick. I do like the cat nun plan but also do not like the ending. Feels like it's trying to recreate Season 24 but fails, despite being less camp.

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 25/12/2025

"The Christmas Invasion" A great episode melding Doctor Who with Xmas. Also a great episode that, in my controversial opinion, perfectly sets up a new incarnation of the Doctor. Him not being in it allows us to spend time with familiar characters and allows him to save the day fast. We trust him.

I kinda already said my overall thoughts on the season by calling it "perfect". It is. Rewatching Series 1 has made me realise that it's my favourite season bar none. It's strengths are character arcs and social commentary. Every character and everything that was in this season made it for me.

110

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 18/06/2025

"The Parting of the Ways" The best a Dalek army has been written, ever. Their brutality in this is my favourite characterisation. The Dalek Emperor being a deified figure is a stroke of genius. Of course a fascist dictator thinks he's God. The Doctor & Rose's character arcs finished fantastically.

110

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 12/06/2025

"Bad Wolf" The perfect rollercoaster. Starts out with an amazing amount of camp with all the TV show references before suddenly giving us the realisation that its all snuff. Wonderfully dark, with low points that feel bleak, filled with mystery, all ending with optimistic triumph for a cliffhanger!

110

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 04/06/2025

"Boom Town" A quieter episode as tense and emotionally large scale as the rest of them. Blon, and the Doctor, and Rose and Mickey all SHINE here. But it isn't plotless. There is enough here that is satisfying narratively. The comedy and tragedy is balanced perfectly. Makes me ready for the finale.

110

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 29/05/2025

"The Doctor Dances" Eerie, heartbreaking and moving. A perfect recipe for any Doctor Who story. Marks above the rest. A very clever script which gives everyone a good moment. Speaking of, perfect ending for all, especially the Doctor. Perfect on its own and in his arc. Genuinely phenomenal.

110

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 21/05/2025

"The Empty Child" Bone chilling. Jamie is adorable and scary. I love the atmosphere and characters. Jack, Nancy and Constantine feel very immediately likable and strong. I love the wartime spirit in this too. Funny in the right areas, spooky in others. Just sublime.

110

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 14/05/2025

"Father's Day" Beautiful. Very unique depiction of Time Travel. I love how the Doctor and Rose grow throughout, and all the side characters are wonderfully normal. Pete is the highlight. Shaun Dingwall does an amazing job with Paul Cornell's material here. It is truly heartbreaking in the best way.

120

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 07/05/2025

"The Long Game" 200,000 really feels like today doesn't it? Fake news, a media that's complacent, a sinister force funded by the banks taking root and controlling the masses through that? This story deals with these themes well, even Adam's stuff! Only issue is that they didn't get more political.

110

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 30/04/2025

"Dalek" Easily one of the best Doctor Who things ever. Expert dialogue and humour, with character drama that very few episodes even try to rival. I don't know what I can say that hasn't already been said. Very different and does everything for me.

120

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 23/04/2025

"World War Three" Continuing with the politics, having a bunch of authority figures being evil, faking weapons of mass destruction and the Doctor concludes to blow up Downing Street? I do love the camp, but the character work shines again. Fine plotting to boot. Again, underrated.

110

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 18/04/2025

"Aliens of London" Politically angry Doctor Who? Sign me up! The conspiracy so far has a genuinely clever plan to cause global panic, orchestrated by a useless government that is secretly compromised. The imagery and character beats at the start make this even richer. Underrated for sure.

110

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 09/04/2025

"The Unquiet Dead" I can't really put my finger on any faults with this one either. The 3rd act twist wasn't necessary and that's it. This one serves more character and a really gothic atmosphere, which I love. Charles Dickens is a wonderfully realised character here, resonated with him a lot.

120

Matt @dreevee.bsky.social · 09/04/2025

"The End of the World" Pure camp fun yet still serious, with a whole host of topical political messaging throughout. Its world building is done in a very overwhelming way but it knows it. The big strength is the Doctor and Rose's developing relationship, adding beautiful depth to both of them.

"Rose" I can't think of a more perfect start. Some people are put off by the more camp moments of this, but they're fun! Plus, it's mostly that cosmic wonder that is so intoxicating. Some of RTD's best work is in here for sure. Simple premise and relatable characters is a recipe for success.
