Twitch has added itself to companies throwing your content to the LLMs and making you ask them not to. During an AMA with Mike Minton, he admitted “If it was opt-in, nobody would opt in.” So yeah, they know, they just don't care.

All my fellow writers are talking about how much the industry has changed in the past 10 years, how hard it is to be an author right now, how books are a luxury and everyone is feeling the impact. So if there is a writer in your life, just buy them a coffee/tea/tiny treat to stave off the horrors.

I grew up reading a lot of British stories and I drink Earl Grey daily, and this has led to my editors having to gently remind me, every time, that my manuscript needs to be in American English not British English and could I also please stop writing towards instead of toward.

I've had a few hard "should I keep going" moments recently between AI, witch hunts, book sales being down, etc. This evening I decided that I am not allowed to step away from writing and publishing until I've used up my ISBNs. They were expensive. I still have 100 of them. Back to writing.

1) Any witch hunt is bad. Full stop. 2) You're not entitled to my private anything. 3) Would it even be good enough? My outlines are super basic. Are you going to be happy with that? Or are you gonna say I'm lying because it isn't "right"? I hate GenAI, I will never use it, but this is not the way.

Artists who don't use AI will have sketches, styles and other ways to prove it's their work. Letting people get away with using GenAI and claiming their prompts as 'art' and their own work is how we end up with slop being praised and the original authors and artists left without proper credit.

Wow, you know who makes WAY less than $60K a year? Me. The author. Who doesn't pirate other people's books. Also, go to a library. Or sign up for an ARC. Wait for a Smashwords sale or Stuff Your Kindle event. You can get books for free legally, but you're entitled and lazy.

Out at dinner with Beast, his dad, and his uncle. Beast was explaining the difference between his and my ADHD, and how he likes having the TV on for background noise but I get distracted by the shiny noise box, and his dad goes, "So you're a crow!" It's the most seen I have ever felt by this man.

So Meta is currently "not recommending" my author page on FB because "our technology found it violated community guidelines." It's nothing but writing memes and upcoming signings. Is it the anti-AI stuff? Is the AI they use to monitor our accounts offended?

Caffeine doesn't usually do much for me (ADHD). Perks me up a bit, but not for long, and won't keep me up. Well, yesterday, the boba place accidentally made my drink a 44 oz instead of a 22 oz. And as such, I have learned that 44 oz of Earl Grey milk tea will, in fact, keep me up.

So, skimming through the sample chapter of some werewolf alpha romance, and the FMC is all, "I'm so ugly compared to the other she-wolves because I'm 5'9" and 180lbs" and I had to remind myself that I was holding my phone and it was expensive as the urge to hurl it across the room overwhelmed me.
