What's your favourite #ttrpg that leverages NOT having a backstory beyond what it can already provide for your character? Besides Dogs in the Vineyard. Or In a Wicked Age. Or Psi Run.

I'm once again asking folks to level up their GM tips towards offering them to everyone at the table. You're playing a character? You should consider the setting as well, safety tools, prep according to expectations, help spotlight other players, learn how to leverage the game, etc.

It’s exhausting how TTRPGs can’t even hear themselves think with all the noise that the D&Ds make. If there’s an average online forum about TTRPGs somewhere, chances are it’s basically about the D&Ds again. Reddit is cooked, Lemmy is cooked. We need new spaces. #dndisnotforme #ttrpg

What people now call theatre of the mind for me has always been just the default way to #ttrpg But we need to account for different levels of aphantasia at the table. Sometimes words are not enough, we should be scribbling down a quick map or something. But the default is also not minis on a grid.

A representation of how people with differing visualization abilities might picture an apple in their mind. The first image is bright and photographic, levels 2 through 4 show increasingly simpler and more faded images, and the last—representing complete aphantasia—shows no image at all.
