music journalist zensounds 禅の音 recently interviewed me! BUT also check out his other articles covering a swath of underground music and vaporwave. it's brilliant stuff! and it sounds like he's hard at work documenting vaporwave history. it's worth checking out.

these feel like dreamscapes to me, and i tried to capture that feeling from the perspective of my main character Addie, in my novel. if you like this, I hope you'll check out my novel, coming out this Friday.

i find there's also a deep emphasis on childhood innocence. from my 21st century perspective, it's almost over-idealized. i wonder if these artists felt the need to protect the idea of childhood by depicting it as safe and wondrous, even if that wasn't the case in reality. im drawn to this idea. these illustrators were limited to just a few or no colors by the limits of the early print medium, and I find this actually gives the pictures a more dreamlike, tactile sense. (2)

Thought it might be fun to gush about the many artists and illustrators that inspired my upcoming novel. I'm really drawn to the art-noveau, fairytale pictures of the early 1900s. Everything felt composed of organic shapes like they had grown wild from deep in the forest. (1)

im releasing a fantasy novel. it's not vaporwave exactly.... BUT, it does mash together some of my favorite 90s influences. plus it takes place in the year 2000. I've been working on it for the better part of a decade, and I think you'll like it if you like my other work. FULL TRAILER COMING SOON!

Big Announcement! I'm releasing an illustrated novel, which will be announced a bit later. To celebrate, I've created a "mash up" trailer to make a "what if" my book had been a 90's film. If you loved "The Secret Garden", "The NeverEnding Story," or "Hook", you'll want to check this out.

Majisto is playing an online concert. If you want to do some good in the world AND groove to mushy retro tunes, then please come see the wizard and Ogwen play this Nov 15th.

My favorite platforms lately are the exact opposite of SNS sites -- I like sites that are giant pits of uncurated digital stuff. Sites like archive.org, khinsider and older torrent trackers like jpopsuki and bakabt just supply endless dopamine to the digital crate-digging part of my brain.

In the Dreamcastle, Majisto uncovered a portal to a world of little animal people speaking in British accents, living in red yellow blue houses. Within, you shall hear static-filled bits from television past... postmen, claymation, Children's BBC, 1970s educational shows... youtu.be/jWC0K6omAT0
