I remember in the late 90s when we had a string of pie-in-the-face incidents. Good times.

Yeah, I think there's still a problem with copyright squatters as well. I just got a takedown notice with no information in YouTube, but when I go to the email to email the claimant, it's construction company out of Florida. 🤷‍♂️

"What if the lead character was not 'Carrie White', but 'Carrie Bradshaw'?" "And just like that... prom was over."

Socialism is when "Levitating" comes on the radio and you're getting ready to do DaBaby part, and then it turns out it's the version that doesn't have DaBaby on it.

Reading all of the stories and seeing bts photos of PAC has been nice. He's one of those guys who absolutely mastered "game face" and looked like a miserable prick when he was in character.

It seems like the vibes are all over the place. On Threads and Tik Tok, I'm seeing a deluge of comments proudly proclaiming they've never even heard of Ella Langley and how her alleged success must be a conspiracy. It's hard to imagine that culture has become THAT bifurcated.

One of our students just came back from a Disney internship summer internship, and she gave me the tidbit that if the employee says "Have a Disney Day!” they really like you and hope you'll have a good day. "Have a Magical Day," on the other hand, means "Go fuck yourself."

Disproportionate spending on inelastic essentials. The more income inequality, the more it is felt at the bottom and lower middle. 🤷‍♂️

I wasn't old enough to really know disco as a music or culture. It was just an early form of cringe aversion when I was a kid. Disco was to my elementary school what Nickelback was to the mid-2000s. This, for example, was an absolute joke. 🤷‍♂️

I just remember it feeling incredibly outdated and old compared to where pop was going. It wasn't until the 1990s where I was like, "Hey, how'd they ever convince me this was bad!?" Maybe it's just the 20-year-cycle thing where you have to reject it first before you bring it back.

I asked it that same question. "That happens because of how a Large Language Model generates text—it writes one word at a time from left to right without a built-in "delete" key. Once a specific word or number is generated, it cannot be erased or rewritten during that output."

A poster for the 1971 film "What the Peeper Saw" shows actress Britt Eckland disrobing against a grungy red backdrop with a silhouetted figure shining a flashlight down a set of stairs. The caption "Whatever turns you on... to Terror!" appears in white text.

I had to go in for a flex-sigmoidoscopy (because it WAS cancer the first time), and the nurse said, "You know, we can do this without putting you under if you want." I know there are risks to anesthesia, but like... no. No, don't do that. Ever.
