It is all but official that 2024 had the warmest global temperatures since records began. It beat 2023, the previous record by over 0.1˚C, which had blown the record before that by more than 0.2˚C. Typically temp records are broken by a 100th of a degree. Not anymore!!

This is the poster my student and I will present at the American Geophysical Union meeting in DC. It resolves the conundrum of high ice volume concomitant with high CO2. We estimate with the warmer climate owing to high CO2 levels, sea levels were up to 100 feet higher than today.

My student & I will present our research at the American Geophysical Union, the world's largest earth science conference. Our research focuses on the last time CO2 was higher than today (15 million years ago). We show the Antarctica lost ~50% of its ice resulting in a ~100 feet sea level rise.

I am attending the AGU meeting in DC in two weeks. Thi is the abstract my student and I will be presenting. This research resolves a mismatch between high CO2 and apparent high ice volume by ID'ing a warm saline water mass that affected the oxygen isotope records. We present on Thursday morning.
