Sexual assault is always a choice. It is not just how boys or men are. Men are not inherently violent. Women and children are not property. No one is entitled to sex with another person.

In 10 months since quitting my corporate job I earned 16 college credits with a 4.0 GPA. I learned Bach’s English Suite 2. I learned to can veg from the garden my partner grows. I have found myself in these new skills and knowledge and something has shifted. I’m no longer afraid.

I’ve been ruminating about a heated disagreement I had with my social work professor this week when I referred to ICE detention centers as “practically concentration camps.” Then I watched @hcrichardson.bsky.social on @ivehaditpodcast.bsky.social. We do not give young people enough credit! I’m so proud of my most recent test scores, I often wonder if the amount of work and emotional stress it causes is worth it. Going back to school at 40 is by far the most difficult thing I’ve ever done, but I do think I’m on the right path. Finally!

This Day in Labor History: September 15, 1845. Women working in the Pittsburgh textile mills met in Market Square to discuss the necessity of fighting to cut their days from 12 to 10 hours without a reduction in pay. The workers struck and a militant confrontation with capital resulted!

10 months ago I was a data engineer for a financial tech company making 6 figures. Now I’m a 40 freshman in community college studying social work. With as much fear and stress as I feel everyday, I can’t help but think this was the best decision I’ve ever made.
