A4 #LTHEChat. lucky to work in a shared space with the DE Team and hear what is going on, so probably have a better understanding (through osmosis) than most academics. The difficulty is how do other academic staff, who don't share the space, pick up on what the DE team is doing day to day...

A4 Durham has a great piece of work called Flourish at Durham which addresses the research culture specifically. The Research Innovation Service and Researcher Development teams are looking at development needs at different career stages + we launched the recruitment of our first Prosper cohort.

Me too. Others say/assume I have a PhD because of the title. I sometimes correct them as I feel mine is different but just as valuable. I've asked my team to refer to doctorates not PhDs to try and be more inclusive.

A3 Panic over funding leading to caution and a reluctance to change and experiment, taking us a few steps back rather than moving us forward

A1 for me RC is the norms that exist around research. As a new researcher, and in the SoTL space, I sometimes feel part of the norms and at other times like I've landed on an alien planet we're I don't speak the language or "fit in"
