It's hard to choose just one, but almost nothing beats my Sunsets on Lake Superior series.
A photo of the rocky shores of the Southern coast of Lake Superior in late July. The sun is setting, casting a deep amber glow upon the rock faces. The sky is light blue and there are some grey and pink clouds passing by. A person holds up what looks like today's fresh catch, but is actually two water bottles ready for their overnight cooling soak in the frigid deep blue.

Ma’am’d at the CVS… while testosterone pattern balding… it really must be Trans Day of Visibility after all. 😜
Photo of Ethan, outside in the shade of a patio umbrella, on a very sunny day. He is resting his chin in one hand, and resting the other arm across the top of his legs. His arm sleeve black and grey tattoos are visible. There are green trees and a bright blue sky with some fluffy white clouds behind him. He’s smiling with his mouth closed.

Lol. What if I did this over a year ago and no one has even responded? I'm one of probably thousands who have been ghosted my Fed Loan since this all started. I'd die for buyback. I'm only 5 payments away from forgiveness! But they don't actually want to forgive those loans. That's the grift.
The best repayment for most borrowers at the moment will be IBR, or the Income-Based Repayment plan, he said. Any borrowers pursuing Public Service Loan Forgiveness should file a PSLF Buyback application to get credit for the months their progress stalled in SAVE.

Just a casual Saturday, working on my (very casual, much chill) first mixed-media collage, entitled "Freaky Little Gender Freak." Excited to (maybe, potentially) eventually share this with the world.
Some pictures of young Beef, age 7 or so in a blue frilly dress, and age 14 in a silky blue dress, surrounded by printed cutouts of quotes from Freud's Interpretation of Dreams, and the etymological origins of the words pervert, froward, and fromward.

As an alternative, let me introduce everyone to Lovers Leap Arch (and the broader Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore). If you're feeling frisky, you can kayak underneath it. Heck, you might even see some Northern Lights while you're there. 10/10
Lovers Leap Arch, a massive natural arch in the sandstone cliffs above Lake Superior. Atip the sandstone are pine and birch (?) trees.A waterfall spouts over the edge of tree-toped sandstone cliffs, above the clear blue waters of Lake Superior.Looking down into Lake Superior from high atop the sandstone cliffs. The water is shades of teal and aqua blue. Pine trees line the outer edge of the cliffs. Green and purple neon northern lights shine above Pictured Rocks at night.

Gil Scott-Heron said/sang it best.
Lyrics to The Revolution Will Not Be Televised

You will not be able to stay home, brother
You will not be able to plug in, turn on and drop out
You will not be able to lose yourself on skag and skip
Skip out for beer during commercials
Because the revolution will not be televised

The revolution will not be televised

The revolution will not be brought to you by Xerox
In 4 parts without commercial interruption
The revolution will not show you pictures of Nixon
Blowing a bugle and leading a charge by John Mitchell
General Abrams and Spiro Agnew to eat
Hog maws confiscated from a Harlem sanctuary

The revolution will not be televised

The revolution will be brought to you by the Schaefer Award Theatre and
will not star Natalie Wood and Steve McQueen or Bullwinkle and Julia
The revolution will not give your mouth sex appeal
The revolution will not get rid of the nubs
The revolution will not make you look five pounds
Thinner, because The revolution will not be televised, BrotherThere will be no pictures of you and Willie Mays
Pushing that cart down the block on the dead run
Or trying to slide that color television into a stolen ambulance
NBC will not predict the winner at 8:32or the count from 29 districts

The revolution will not be televised

There will be no pictures of pigs shooting down
Brothers in the instant replay
There will be no pictures of young being
Run out of Harlem on a rail with a brand new process
There will be no slow motion or still life of
Roy Wilkens strolling through Watts in a red, black and
Green liberation jumpsuit that he had been saving
For just the right occasion
Green Acres, The Beverly Hillbillies, and
Hooterville Junction will no longer be so damned relevant
and Women will not care if Dick finally gets down with
Jane on Search for Tomorrow because Black people
will be in the street looking for a brighter day

The revolution will not be televised

There will be no highlights on the eleven o'clock News
and no pictures of hairy armed women Liberationists and
Jackie Onassis blowing her nose
The theme song will not be written by Jim Webb, Francis Scott Key
nor sung by Glen Campbell, Tom Jones, Johnny Cash
Englebert Humperdink, or the Rare Earth

The revolution will not be televised
The revolution will not be right back after a message
About a whitetornado, white lightning, or white people
You will not have to worry about a germ on your Bedroom
a tiger in your tank, or the giant in your toilet bowl
The revolution will not go better with Coke
The revolution will not fight the germs that cause bad breath
The revolution WILL put you in the driver's seat
The revolution will not be televised

WILL not be televised, WILL NOT BE TELEVISED

The revolution will be no re-run brothers
The revolution will be live

The far right this week: "bring a gun to a public demonstration and expect to get shot." The far right on pretty much every lobby day at the Virginia capital in Richmond:
A person holding a very large gun, with a huge smile across their face. Two people in tactical gear with large guns, holding hands and smiling. Five people in tactical gear/camo, holding large guns and standing in front of the Virginia capital building. Classic Office meme format of "corporate needs you to find the difference between this picture and this picture." On the left is the Three Arrows, a political symbol associated with the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and its paramilitary wing the Iron Front; a known anti-fascist symbol designed to deface the Nazi swastika during the 1930s (and beyond). On the right is a logo for the PTA, or Parents & Teachers Association, a nationwide organization with local and school chapters, that brings parents, teachers, and school staff together to support the educational success and well-being of children. It is surrounded by a rainbow of hands. Apparently, to CNN, these are the same.

I am *really* hoping some of my fav critical AI people will contribute to this AJPH call for contributions on "Responsible Artificial Intelligence Use for Advancing Public Health." Please, please, please, someone write a paper that says “there is no responsible use” and here’s why….!!?! Please?
SUBMIT HERE: https://ajph.aphapublications.org/pb-assets/Supporting%20Documents/AJPH%20CFP%20AI%20Use_Full_Final-1758036159977.pdf

Submission Due Date: January 2nd, 2026.

The American Journal of Public Health (AJPH) issues this Call for Papers to invite AI researchers, public health practitioners, ethicists, and policymakers to articulate practical barriers and transformative possibilities pertaining to the use of AI technologies in public health. Papers that discuss research experiences, dissect operability and implementation challenges, and explore the ethical use of AI are desired.

Our central question is:

How do we efficiently, effectively, and ethically integrate AI into public health practice?

I know everything is shit, but these past two weeks, I've gotten to take one of my loves to one of the places I love, and it's been a blessing and a balm. I'll share more pictures to cleanse the TL, if you can guess the location correctly. 😉
A dark storm rolls in across a bright blue sky, contrasting the white clouds ahead of it. The sun beams down from behind the edge of those storm clouds, shining on the lake beneath it. The lake's shoreline is rocky, peppered with small and very large red, blue, green, and brown stones. The water is clear and calm, despite the drama unfolding above it. A small blue tent is sitting on a sandy bluff overlooking a lake. The sun is setting, casting an amber hue upon everything. In front of the tent, a hammock hangs between two trees. The leaves are bright green and stand contrasting the light blue hues of the lake sand sky.

I mean, it’s a psychedelic poster, so, you know.I wish I could find an exact picture of the blow up chair I had. It was black and, I think, sparkly….! This one is purple and not sparkly.Lava lamps! This seems to be a very common thread in most moral and identitarian panics (including surrounding immigrants and jobs, poor folks and social services, disabled people and accommodations, Black excellence of literally any kind). I'm no Kleinian psychoanalyst, but, something something projection...
“Omnipotent denial of the existence of the bad object and of the painful situation is in the unconscious equal to annihilation by the destructive impulse. It is, however, not only a situation and an object that are denied and annihilated – it is an object-relation which suffers this fate; and therefore a part of the ego, from which the feelings towards the object emanate, is denied and annihilated as well.” (p. 7)

Fascinated by the sociogeny of madness and "mental health”? Compelled by the affective turn? Want to burn down the house neurodivergence research currently resides in and build something much better from the ashes? Consider submitting a proposal to join the 4S Panel I’m organizing! Link in 🧵.
We have yet to see “the affective turn” genuinely embrace the world of neurodivergence and mental health. Scholars of disability
and physical “health” are expanding notions of what it means to be disabled, and critiquing the interrelated necropolitical
systems of incarceration, policing, public health, Capitalism, white supremacy, fascism, and others, that impact debility,
wellness, and flourishing. Sadly, scholars of neurodivergence and mental health have largely not followed suit. This open panel
aims to change that. We invite submissions that explore the complex interrelations of discursive practices, the human body,
social and cultural forces, and individually experienced but historically situated affects and emotions of madness and/or mental
health. Explorations might include: sanism and its discontents; critical psychopathology and/or emerging alternative approaches
to mental health and wellbeing (e.g. somatic approaches, neo-pharmaceuticals/medicinals); historical-comparative case studies
of madness and mental “illness" (including papers that explore the appropriation of indigenous and First Nations methods and
modes of care/treatment and/or the exploitation of Black and Indigenous peoples themselves); critiques of the DSM (and/or other
diagnostic tools and psychometrics); narratives and first-person accounts of diagnosis (including self-diagnosis) and/or coming
in/to disability/madness (particularly those that decenter whiteness and cisheterosexuality, and/or that are global/transnational);
visions of neurodivergent and/or mad futurity; stories of mad/crip thriving and kinship/care networks during the crumbling of
empires; and many others not named here.

Timeline (but I usually like to call it palate) cleanser, if ya need one. This is Chip. He's a good boy.
This is Chip, a very good, very old, very anxious Pomerianian Min-Pin pup (with a fairly short fawn coat and a slightly fuzzier white middle stripe down his sternum). He's laying down in a brown fuzzy bed in the backseat of a car, paws gently touching the front seats' middle console, staring longingly up at one of his humans. His ears are down and slightly back, like Yoda.

Two RATs 48 hours apart will get you closer to accurate, but is still pretty open for false negs. Unsure about how this would decrease if expired (and by how much they're expired).
Image of the test sensitivity of various COVID testing methods.

1 RAT is 28%
2 RATs 48 hrs apart is 63%
Lucira PCR I'd 89%
3EO molecular is 95%
Metrix molecular is 97%
Pluslife molecular is 98%

How you can still support the 2024 National Day of Mourning even if you can’t come to Plymouth

If you are unable to participate directly in the National Day of Mourning in Plymouth, MA, here are seven ways you can stand in solidarity with United American Indians of New England (UAINE) and the National Day of Mourning.

1. Watch the National Day of Mourning livestream from Plymouth beginning at 12 noon on November 28. The livestream link is: https://www.youtube.com/live/pdpBNKI31TA

2. Help to spread the word about National Day of Mourning on social media. Would you rather support National Day of Mourning in Plymouth than engage in a celebration of white supremacy, the theft of a continent and the genocide of Indigenous peoples? Say why on your Facebook page, Twitter or Instagram account.

3. Donate! You can donate to UAINE here: https://chuffed.org/project/116129-united-american-indians-of-new-england-uaine-fundraiser. While we are grateful for your donations to UAINE, this year we want to urge everyone to make donations to organizations that are currently able to have a direct impact on Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. Here are a few that have been recommended: Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, ANERA, Middle East Children’s Alliance, 1for3.org, Gaza Mental Health Foundation, MSF, Crips for E-sims, CareforGaza.

4. Use Thanksgiving Day as a ‘teachable moment’ and educate family and friends. If you gather for a Thanksgiving meal, read aloud to your friends and family about the real history of Thanksgiving and National Day of Mourning before you sit down to eat. Matthew Hughey’s “On Thanksgiving: Why Myths Matter” is one possible text that is just about the right length for a pre-meal reading. You can also read the suppressed speech of Wamsutta Frank James, the founder of National Day of Mourning, and check out the UAINE website. You can watch the livestream from Plymouth. If you or your family members are hungry for more truth-telling, you can...
