Why are western comic lovers so offended when told that a character who has a 80-90 year history with multiple writers, iterations, spinoffs and one-shots, can be a little daunting to get into? Especially coming from a genre that for the most part has one singular story and usually has an end

I love “western” comics, I truly do. But people acting like the major 2 comic companies have characters that have almost a century of history, with multiple origins, reboots and continuities is disingenuous. I’m not sure how anyone can debate that.

If you’re coming from a genre that has a concise beginning, middle and end I can see how picking up comics and trying to follow a character who has 45 years of history, 98 different writers across 2 dozen books can be intimidating. Doesn’t make them less intelligent it just makes comics convoluted
