The funniest thing about not trusting your memories is that, unless you've played them recently, old games tend to get a graphical upgrade in your head. Or at least in mine. Even when I try to account for the effect. The worse the graphics, the more prominent the effect. See: ZX Spectrum

It finds 'heat' in a lot of places for me, music included. Also random '[snorts]'. I don't know how new those are. I used to not enable auto captions, but recently I can no longer tell youtube I don't want them but do want written English captions.

I've got it set up, but it's literally 'we have backups set up for when Discord becomes untenable'. I haven't used it for more than joining backup hangouts, adding friends, and testing.

Ah man. I didn't have the *original* original, but the copy bundled with the first game on CD-ROM. I did have the map, hopefully still do... somewhere. And the two hefty manuals with all the backstory. Still had to map out something else though.

I showed it to a friend whose parents were visiting that night. After he left I kept going. And going. And going. Next day was like, Sunday? But it was a school week. Eventually I find it's like 6am but the end felt so close. And at 8am it also felt real close. I finally beat it around 10:30am.

It really does. I did have a guide... of sorts. It wasn't exactly what I'd call complete, especially for a game with a broad spread of mechanics, story beats, and secrets. For years I had to pull out my own map for certain parts, as well. Super rewarding though.

I feel you. They're kind of popcorn shaped. Nice to get now and then, but they start to taste samey and they're not very nutricious. Annnnd even though I like them in theory, I've also noticed I'm getting tired of them in practice.

I watched it so I'd have context for the movie that is only tenuously in continuity narratively but 100% in continuity emotionally and so that its extremely weird ending would bowl me the fuck over emotionally. That's not why I set out to. That's how it happened.
