I have seen some builds where the player dug a moat around their house and only cross it with a pole, so villagers won't knock on the door.

One thing I miss from City Folk is how the villagers would sometimes share the letters you wrote to them.

City Folk. Plus: had more options than the original, shops, etc. More unique villager dialogues. Minus: random villagers coming and going.

These "AI" and "chat whatevs" are not intelligent. They are a product made by humans. (Sloppy, rushed humans at that.) That's what we should call them. A product. Nothing more.

Answering this for myself after some months. Although you can't directly invite hotel guests, as you would from a camp site, I'm finding if you talk to them while they're roaming the town, after a couple of times they might show up when you take an island tour to seek a new villager. FWIW

Gamecube was my family's first console. My kids (8 and 10 at the time) actually played Animal Crossing with me. Such things are rare in our family. They since have moved on. I am still playing, though no longer on Gamecube.

Doing an experiment in my #ACNH island by systematically playing at a different hour each day, so I can hear all the hourly music. So far I'm most fond of the 6 pm tune. The 1 am tune is... interesting!

Although you can't invite hotel guests to move in, I'm finding that the guests you speak to on your island may turn up when you are searching for new neighbors. So maybe you will get Shep at some point.

Of your options, DA 2 as it no longer works on my system. But Awakening and other DLC from DAO it's been longer.
