Your not wrong, and I can see why many feel like this game is really good, but also has… a lot going on🤣 I think for me the ambition of a FE this large lends it to some pretty amazing highs that are outshining the complication. Like Leda and Dimitri’s route have some of the best writing in FE imo

It’s funny because I’ve been doing each of the chapter 1s back to back and only the last one, Cai’s capture gimmick, feels like more than I want to put up with. Leda’s route is pretty mechanic free, Theodora’s is battalions, and Dimitri’s is the sword hunt, but it’s kinda a use as you move thing.

The way they remake is set up it feels like, and this is just my own conspiracy, that was the plan, but someone probably got spooked about “changing the core of DQ1” and the idea was abandoned, but the game was only partially rebalanced for solo… imo at least

That’s the biggest thing I saw/noticed about the DQ1 remake… it feels like it was rebalanced to match with DQ2R has, but that game has a party, so DQ1R feels weirdly scaled in difficulty, jumping up and down wildly. IMO the princess and others should/could have been party members in the remake,

Each lord is full of personality, driven by their “goal” often to a concerning degree, such as Leda and her shifts from charming and calculating to “the biggest murder eyes you’ve ever seen”. Even Dimitri who I assumed would be the boring pretty boy was really “the power of friendship… and murder.”

While I’m still doing all the chapters 1 stories, FE Fortunes Weaves plot continues to surprise me in ways I didn’t expect! So far each Lord and their main supporting cast are full of real charm and personality, and several I assumed would be “boring/lame” ended up being some of my favorites!

I was reminded that my GameStop pro membership was “set to auto renew” soon, even though I’m sure I turned that off. So I decided to use my leftover points and my $5 coupon (which is harder and harder to use now) on one last order, no confirmation email. Cancel auto renew, email in seconds… lol

Semi related but I still remember the games director taking the cheep shot at Mario with “our game isn’t $80” and then many pointing out “it’s $100 with your day 1 season pass”. Tbc I think this season is a cooler overall package, but as one who who already bought in day 1 it’s a consideration

Tbc I don’t disagree with you, but also games are supposed to be funded primarily from their sales, dlc/season passes are designed to keep interest going, which is important. Also tbf season 1 and its cost was actively a discussed issue for this game at launch, with many questioning who was in it.

And that’s on top of the fact that if your a day 1 buyer, your paying another $30 on top of the $70 and $30 you already paid, cause especially now base game feels lesser. It’s nice they are permanently slashing the price, but it’s only a benefit to new users. Tbf it’s a complicated back and forth

My issue is less the need for content, which I get, SEGA (not us tbf) keeps reminding us this game “underperformed” somehow, but more the growing cost WE are expected to cover to keep their games running sometimes annoys me. Again $30 for pass 1 felt like a lot, $30 for pass 2 still feels like a lot

“Wow, the Sonic Crossworlds season 2 looks pretty neat! Not very “Sonic” imo, but those are some cool looking cameos and stages— $30?!” Like it’s good stuff, and I’m not saying it’s a rip off, but another $30 feels like a lot, especially now a days (which brings a day 1 user to a total of $130 now)

Also tbh I personally don’t consider games like this “live service” in the same way something like Marathon is, in the same way I don’t think of splatoon as a live service game, it’s more an online game with events (ish)

How they do in 2027 will be interesting to watch for sure, though data here and in other places seems to suggest that Nintendo is continuing to see a industry wide increase in physical game sales, which suggests it could continue to go up, but it could also just be everything balancing out tbf

Tbf the data seems to suggest many didn’t mind it as much as was suggested. It’s not a perfect solution tbc, but many probably prefer it over no physical option at all. I don’t think it’s an issue as extreme as admitting defeat, imo at least.

Tbf I think it’s more that given the sentiment at the time, and still said by people even now, many swore and said they would never accept key cards no matter what. So it’s probably more that despite that many bought them anyways. Many expected key cards sales to face plant rather than sell at all.

Exactly, it really does feel like they are trying very hard to temper expectations that THEY set up and it’s a shame. I still feel like we’ll get a good/fun game that overall “concludes” the trilogy, but I worry that the R3 ending will be the most disappointing part, much like part 1 and 2 imo

Facts! I do think rebirth in particular suffers from fear of the og plot and trying to squeeze in change, effecting the game (Still a good game overall tbf). Remake was sold on “change the future” and rebirth has big “change is scary” vibes and “big” fights until the very end and even then backs off

Imo your not wrong, I do think an underlying issue with the remake trilogy (so far) is shock value over narrative logic. Aerith’s death and following scenes are some of the best moments in og ff7, and rebirth kinda… ruins it in what feels like the devs stressing over “can you really change things?!”

I feel you there! But I overall found it a pretty effective way to build supports without wasting a ton of time. Essentially investing the recruit time I’d have done over the whole game in a few restarts, especially since you can ignore the plot and just do support stuff before resting

Have you heard about the support trick? When you restart a chapter everything resets Except support gains. So you can spend a chapter focusing on gaining supports via meals and stuff (reset every Sunday) Then once they are ready to be recruited you just restart the chapter and recruit them

Used some bday money to get a few veeeeery cool gunpla! The “feather unit” RX-78 and the TX-ff104 Alyzues! Tbh half the reason I got the Alyzues was because it also comes with a complete RX-94 Mass Produced Nu Gundam, and I love the Nu Gundam! (Plus it comes with a stand!)

2 years ago ish my 75 year old mom almost died due to a sudden GI bleed, and it’s made me truly appreciate every day I spend with her. I used to worry “what if something happens, what if—“ but I’ve stopped doing that, now I appreciate each day knowing I get to spend it with someone who loves me.
