Hardly a great film yet I kind of love it. And what a cast!

Recently saw this and it has some surprisingly creepy scenes.

Hugely underrated in my opinion. Fantastic performance from Albert Finney and some very strong social commentary. One of my favorite werewolf films. I just wished they would release a blu ray with some decent extras!

Amazing film. Far superior to the Bogart sequel (he was the only memorable part of the sequel)

Almost 100% of “grey reef sharks” seen on Oahu are sandbar sharks

It wouldn’t be any more heritable than a fingerprint. So that shouldn’t be an issue. There may be issues with the markings changing over time though!

Incredibly creepy and influential. I love this film

First Hammer I ever saw. I must have been 9 or so and stayed up late to watch it. I was so scared I only got through half of it but that is where my love for Hammer came from😁

Yeah this was a special event a few years ago but it was an amazing night

I was fortunate to see this play at an open theater in florida and Bruce Campbell himself arrived to introduce the film😁

It’s the scene where a victim stumbles on stage dying and everyone assumes it’s part of the show. I think that happens in Demons?

It’s been a while since I saw it but I feel Scream 2 ripped off a scene from Demons almost entirely?

I kind of love it. And ending with a tongue in cheek horror-comedy vampire story was the perfect ending

I really enjoy this film but the standout for me is the Peter Cushing story. Genuinely creepy

Love this film. Surprisingly dark and getting Lee Marvin and Gene Hackman to act against each other is something else

It’s amazing. I was 12 when it came out and it had to be one of the most anticipated films I have very experienced. Clips would reach us in Europe for months and the thirst were already a best seller before it even came out. I think everyone had a Batman tshirt that year

Also it gained even more points for an utterly out of place and ludicrous 70s metal song at the end. As a Greek I can 100% see another Greek thinking that would be a great choice (the director was actually Greek)🤣

Just watched it and although it’s hardly what I call a great film (the performances other than Pleasance and Cushing are not great)…yet I kind of loved it. Maybe it’s because I am half Greek and cult 70s horror filmed there hits the spot? It’s strikingly filmed in some scenes.

Agreed! My reason for ranking it lower is the competition is so stiff when up against the House that dripped blood, Dr Terrors house of horrors, Tales from the crypt, Vault of horror, and from beyond the grave.

Enjoyable but I would definitely say it’s one of the weaker Amicus anthologies!

Although the studio might have messed up the editing of this film, I think it’s still hugely underrated. Beautifully filmed, acted and scored, it’s not perfect but I still highly recommend it

And it is better than Wages of fear, the film that inspired it (also a masterpiece). Further evidence of what a great actor Roy Scheider was

The problem is the accusation that shark diving conditions sharks but not thinking that 100s of boats fishing in the same spots doesn’t condition them.

Other than the ending, which is well known why it ended up a total mess, this is a really underrated film. A great cast

While the contribution of fishing may be true, the idea that orcas would need to eat all white sharks to demonstrate a population change is not correct. It’s well known the behavioral response to fear of predation can lead to a rapid response without individuals necessarily being killed.

The final chapter of my PhD is published in Journal of Experimental Biology! And, we got the cover! We used biologgers to estimate great hammerheads' temperature “sweet spot.” We saw they can perform well at a range of temps, which supports observations from the field. (1/2) 🌊🦑🧪🐟

New paper out today! Using accelerometers to generate thermal performance curves in great hammerhead sharks. Their low activation energies may explain why they can perform well across seasons.

While of course the original is best, this was still a very underrated film! They don’t just try to replicate the first one and it worked

I think the begining and the end is an absolute masterpiece. And Lugosi is fantastic. But the middle is a bit of a slog and certain sections don’t make sense (the Spanish version fixed that somewhat)

It might not be consistently good but has some incredible scenes. The Demeter washing up on the beach is one of them!

Arguably has two of the creepiest scenes in 70s horror cinema. It’s hard to believe how good this film is for as little known as it is

Those are exactly the two I was thinking of. In almost any other similar genre films they would have been comically incompetent police officers. Hammer took the unusual path of making them highly competent and making all the right decisions.

I also felt it had some unusually good characters beside Cushing and Lee. The MI6 team who discover the whole plot were genuinely compelling.
