Just out 🎉 @marineconservation paper We explore genetic diversity and connectivity of endangered elkhorn coral populations. 🌍🔍 ✅ ~3900 samples from ~1,400 A. palmata genets publicly available in STAG DB reveal population structure across Caribbean
Composite figure showing population genetic structure (a) and effective migration surfaces (b) of endangered elkhorn corals and surface current velocities (c) in the Caribbean/North west Atlantic.

My lab is hiring two(!) postdocs interested in (1) building trait prediction models capable of resolving complex microbial traits from genomes and metagenomes, and/or (2) building mathematical models of microbial community dynamics www.microbialgamut.com/mGAMUT_postd...

Florida elkhorn corals need active genetic help to handle climate change, they cannot do it on their own. The risk is far less than the risk of doing nothing. 🌏🧪https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14920439 @coralconsortium.bsky.social

Safeguarding Florida's Coral Reefs: The Urgency of Assisted Gene Flow for Elkhorn Coral Conservation
The devastating 2023 heatwave is the latest in a series of disasters that has decimated the Florida population of elkhorn coral (Acropora palmata) to a critically low level, pushing this species to a ...
