Photographed from the driveway yesterday. Cute faces, both of them.

If he waited until October it would have come back anyway. Unless he's proposing we have it every month now.

I was wondering how it did APL but I found a picture showing a keyboard legend for APL. Nice. My first computing job was APL...

Rough surfaces are typically "Lambertian". Here are some renders of Lambertian surfaces. Very different to specular surfaces. From this paper: www.researchgate.net/publication/...

Dems are right wing. That you don't call them right wing is a measure of the success of Republicans in shifting perceptions.

Went to hang out with Yoda for a bit but it started raining.

Statue of Yoda looking green standing on a big rock with water pouring off it. Indiana Jones, also green, looks the other way.

I'm actually partway through a reread of a "making of" and I thought this paragraph was interesting. It was basically an afterthought.

I originally thought this material was so out of place in a spaceship and laser sword movie. But now I see that Lucas knew a thing or two about fake trade wars. He was preoccupied for much of his life with the subject of how democracy becomes autocracy.

A plethora of cusp catastrophes from pointing a laser through a water drop.

An image that’s is mostly red. The upper left is brighter. The brightness mostly comes from many non-intersecting curved bright lines. The edge of the bright region is complex. Regions protrude from triangular regions with corners where the edges protrude beyond the vertices where the edges meet. This is hard.

Prime Target is a show about this character who has the most boring job in the world. Using secret cameras she watches mathematicians scribbling at their desks, not understanding their work ("I try to pick it up"), trying to catch them discovering things that have national security implications.

Here's an application about to be installed on MacOS. It only just dawned on me how weird this is to a Windows user. (1) The application is a folder, not a file. (2) That's an Alias to the Applications folder. (Windows has those but not used like this.) (3) That window shows a virtual file system.
