"Jurema", 42×60 cm. Digital painting. #folhadejurema #brasil #portrait #painting #umbanda #jungle #art #brazilian #jurema #oxossi #southamerica #woman #native

A medium-close-up photo of a framed, hand-painted portrait. The artwork depicts an Indigenous woman with warm brown skin, long dark wavy hair, and a direct gaze, placed against a background of lush, tropical green foliage. She wears a simple off-white tunic and is adorned with natural elements: a green and yellow line of face paint runs from her forehead, over her nose, to her chin; a tiny silver septum ring is in her nose; a cluster of green and yellow flowers is tucked behind her right ear; and her earrings appear to be a pair of large green leaves. Tropical plants, including large monstera leaves and a pink heliconia flower, frame her in the foreground. The painting is set within an elaborate, wide, hand-carved dark wood frame. This frame features a dense, high-relief design of tropical flora, such as ferns, palm fronds, and orchids, interspersed with intricate pre-Columbian-inspired geometric patterns. At each of the four corners, a detailed, fierce brass or bronze jaguar head sculpture is mounted. At the top-center of the frame, there is a central orchid carving. The entire framed piece is hanging on a plain, textured, neutral-toned gallery wall with a warm spotlights overhead.
