And Jonathan David gets an assist on his first half of work.

@the-owen-w.bsky.social @tsarfc.bsky.social asked the question about formation youtube.com/shorts/g563z... and I had my response

Was curious about Bassong too but I think he had a knock just before the window. Oso and Adekugbe are entering their final years, yes. Wonder if Priso is ultimately more of a LB than CB. Really want to see more Ivanisevic.

He’s posted stuff and was on a recent One Soccer Direct, so he’s around.

If they are playing for Italy/Ireland even in non-competitive senior matches, we put them as Italian and Irish. Happy to put them in the squad if they are in the squad.

Strikers (2): Tani…is a defensive demon. I accept that this is true. His role needs to shift to a sub to defend the lead others have secured cause the boy don’t score. JRR needs to move faster, MLS pace may get you to France but if he wants starts he needs to make faster decisions.

Doug McLachlan 🇨🇦🇺🇦 @dougmclachlan.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Strikers: Jo David had flashes, not worried. Jebbison looked much livelier than I’d seen him before. More please. Larin is fine, better direct service needed consistently. Promise needs minutes at Brighton and he’ll be back. I know everyone is saying Jesse has him in the doghouse but patience

Wingers: Buchanan needs to be more direct more often. A “run sets up the pass” mentality. If you always dribble, nobody buys the feint. Millar was more effective for that reason. Shaffelburg is still a super-sub in my mind but had a great camp.

Midfielders: Eustáquio is so smooth, hope his injury is nothing serious. Twitter said collarbone, which is horrible if true. Saliba coming out party this camp. Very impressed. Choinière is much improved and really handled the set pieces better than Steph, TBH. Missed Badwahl.

Full Backs: Ritchie is everything but young. Sigur is quality, was hoping he might step up more offensively but there weren’t many opportunities. Chukwu got a good run out. Justin Smith finally got into a camp and didn’t look out of place even if out of position.

Doug McLachlan 🇨🇦🇺🇦 @dougmclachlan.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

CBs: LDF was rusty to start the camp but of who we brought in (including Cornelius) he is the class of the backline. Priso is not yet ready for prime time. Some nice offensive instincts but he’s not at this level, yet. Ivanisević was a revelation, more please. JKL lives!

Keepers: DSC was…okay. No big mistakes and made a couple of nice saves vs Chile but he did nothing to dislodge Crépeau IMO. Goodman got his start and didn’t look overwhelmed, though there were some nerves.

@the-owen-w.bsky.social Disappointing ending but I will say overall a mostly positive friendly window for Canada. Need to figure out how to convert the chances we produce.

Hopefully we have a couple of players back in November too.

I think he wanted the goal. Corbeanu got a camp experience but Marsch doesn’t gift minutes.

Unfortunately I am scheduled for a trial but if it settles in time then I will try to head out to Toronto.

@the-owen-w.bsky.social So Guatemala or Jamaica? Revenge for the 2023-24 Nations League disaster at BMO or revenge for the 2025 Gold Cup Shaffelburg red card loss?

Doug McLachlan 🇨🇦🇺🇦 @dougmclachlan.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Guatemala score, jump to the top of the table.

Doug McLachlan 🇨🇦🇺🇦 @dougmclachlan.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Thought Suriname had it locked up but lose to Guatemala tonight and they get passed on goal differential by Guatemala Jamaica can pass both with a win at home vs Honduras.

Doug McLachlan 🇨🇦🇺🇦 @dougmclachlan.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

It’s a no win for us. We win, they just brought their kids and had focused on beating their real rival in Mexico. They win and we get beat by their kid squad. Win, get the FIFA points. Real games start in November (Jamaica should win at home tonight to top if not it’s Suriname or Guatemala).

👀 Well Larin we knew about. What’s up with Tajon? Nice to see Caldeira (and Corbeanu) get call ups.

Doug McLachlan 🇨🇦🇺🇦 @dougmclachlan.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Nobody mentioned any issues, I think it was just to get Petrasso out there.

Doug McLachlan 🇨🇦🇺🇦 @dougmclachlan.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Goodman start and c/s ✅ Shaffelburg brace ✅ Smith & Petrasso caps ✅ Saliba was really good ✅ Jebbison got a start and an assist (but missed a couple of sitters). 🫤 Tani was Tani 🫤 Test is Tuesday

Doug McLachlan 🇨🇦🇺🇦 @dougmclachlan.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Oh, I assumed that they hadn’t been called up. They dressed for this mess, sad.

Apparently a lot of “old man Larin” jokes at the presser.

I think there are an insane number of subs available so I almost expect to see two mini-games.

I have still not watched the full game. Did go to Texas that March to watch the Trinidad and Tobago game, so that was something.
