Charlie Pierce absolutely nailed the description calling him a man with a head filled wth rancid pudding in place of a brain, pudding that is slowly leaking out of his ears.

Crime and Squalor? Well that fits the White House with it current occupant.

You are in a war for the soul of your country against the absolute evil of the Republican Party. They have to be wiped out of the body politic in a campaign that will be as difficult as de-Nazification of Germany after the Second World War. But that is absolutely the task that awaits you.

That’s the typical milquetoast Democratic response that absolutely no one is looking for. The Republican Party, and Trump, are enemies of your country. Get off your asses and start treating them as such.

I thought maybe it was a Russian Bot but then recalled that there are sadly a lotof shitty dull-witted people who reside on this platform.

And time for the west to start making the United States pay for its rogue regime. Start dumping all the intelligence on Trump’s criminality - there’s got to be quite a bit in the hands of the various intelligence services. Start leaking it to the media.

Just fucking pathetic. The election of Donald Trump for a first and then second Presidential term - now that’s an indelible stain that will never be removed. And the entire world will remember.

Yes and it should have been clear to them that he was entirely unsuited and inappropriate for the position - just as the rest of Trump’s nominations, without a single exception, have been.

I’d like to see international arrest warrants issued by the court for Trump, Rubio, and other members of the administration involved in this.

What you’re noting is needed is essentially analogous to the de-nazification campaign that was implemented in Germany after the Second World War. I think that is precisely what is needed.

The way his cabinet members and supporters talk about him is like something straight out of North Korea. Trump is an absolutely appalling individual but the people who truly lack any self-respect at all are his cabinet members, officials, and Republican politicians.

Well written and well argued. For myself I am sick and tired of mediocre white men continually given hands up the ladder to positions that they repeatedly do not deserve on the merits.

Ah Suella Braverman. Not only is she malicious and dumb as a fence post, but a beautification project in the area she lives would be advanced most quickly by preventing her from going out in public.

Is it not long past time that the Department of Justice lawyers filing these be taken to the woodshed from the start - An absolute failure in a duty of candor as an officer of the court should lead to immediate reporting to the bar. At some point DOJ needs to be dissuaded from filing such nonsense

I think of them less as refugees and more as people who may have substantial skills and education and who would, even without those particular attributes, contribute tremendously to our country. But it’s certainly fair to point out that there would need to be considerable work to accommodate.

what’s frustrating is that it’s a Liberal government that’s bringing this in - and this is consistent with their policy of campaigning from the left while governing from the right. This is their DNA, and the only time things really get better is when there’s a political threat from the NDP.

Canada still has an agreement in place which treats the United States as a safe third country for refugee claimants - which given the Trump Administrations current policies and actions (terror) is an absolute moral stain on Canada. So I’m not overly optimistic.

Yes it’s also the argument for why universality is such an important component of policies like social assistance and healthcare. As we’ve learned in Canada the strategy to rolling back social programs and social progress often starts with eliminating universality. It’s why for-profit healthcare

Weakening federal protections so that more damned money can be shoveled into the pockets of large corporations and hedge funds is a disastrous strategy - one that a diversity of animal species as well as human beings will end up paying for in a variety of of non-monetary ways.

It is true - The Ford government, and I suspect most provincial governments, continually override environmental protections in order to promote whatever development they’re in favor of (or being paid to be in favor of). 413 is just one in a long line of examples - Ring of fire is another one.

Problem is that the Canada Energy Regulator will weigh projects on only the narrowest of technical grounds - impact on the climate and the environment will only play the most minimal role in their reviews. They won’t consider about increased oil shipping impacts on the whale population.

Marcy Kaptur is an absolute disgrace. She should be hounded from public life for taking such positions. Better Democratic politicians and candidates are desperately needed. I can certainly understand why transgender individuals and their supporters would not go out to vote for that candidate.

Everybody in the entire chain of command that participated in that atrocity, whether they were involved in the intelligence, planning, authorization, or actually planning - should be held liable and criminally charged with committing a war crime. From top to bottom.

Is there a journalist who could bother to ask Republican politicians, repeatedly and at any of their press events, why they think it’s reasonable for McConnell to be paid while off on medical leave while ordinary Americans aren’t?

Obama mobilized a large mass of people for his campaign and those people and that infrastructure could have continued to have been utilized and even strengthened during his administration. Instead it was just rolled up after his election and a powerful, progressive asset was eliminated.

Seriously in an even moderately sensible and more country the Republican Party would be wiped out - not a single elected office holder from that Party would remain after the next few elections. It is an absolutely witless party with not an ounce of self-respect, integrity, or intellectual ability
