Doug @doug3.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Ford pardoned Nixon for anything he may have done while president that may have been illegal. It’s a good way to put issues behind us, so they don’t have to be adjudicated. Also a good way to pay off people for being corrupt. 000
Doug @doug3.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Yeah, pardons are allowed for any past conduct, whether or not it was even determined to be illegal. you might have done in the past. Carter pardoned anyone who had evaded the Vietnam draft. 100

Doug @doug3.bsky.social · 12/08/2026Your point makes sense, but I understand that the actual plan to use RCV in Democratic presidential primaries is to get candidates up to the 15% viability threshold, not up to a majority winner. So it would ensure that votes aren’t wasted … #RCV #RankedChoiceVoting #IRV 100
Doug @doug3.bsky.social · 07/08/2026Isn’t it refreshing, though, no longer beating expectations every month? 000
Doug @doug3.bsky.social · 02/08/2026@grubert.bsky.social The plan would be to use #RankedChoiceVoting to drop any votes for candidates who don’t reach the 15% “viability” threshold for earning delegates. As I understand it, anyone who does earn delegates would keep them, not pass them up to the winner via instant runoff. #IRV #RCV 010
Doug @doug3.bsky.social · 01/08/2026Insane. One man’s petty grudge should not convince the Democratic Party to sabotage its nominating process. #RankedChoiceVoting in presidential primaries is a perfect way to prevent wasted votes, to make sure every voter can express a preference among viable candidates. #RCV #DNC 020

Doug @doug3.bsky.social · 29/05/2026The OP’s sentiment is understandable, though. These days, especially at the federal level, which party a member chooses to support for leadership ends up being his or her most critical vote. A member who misleads constituents or fundamentally changes governing philosophy mid-term is suspicious. 100
Doug @doug3.bsky.social · 29/05/2026I agree with you, Theo. When we elect someone, we are electing a human who is free to vote as s/he pleases, including for party identification. We aren’t electing a party representative — or at least I would rather not vote for someone who sees their job as primarily a party member. 100
