It's just an interpretation that reduces Kris and Noelle to "man and woman" when weird route never classifies or shows them as such. They are not portrayed as a straight couple nor are they ever treated like a stereotypical man and woman.

Susie presents pretty masculine too after all. Sometimes people mention a non-existent trope where the male swordsman gets with the female mage, but this isn't a real trope. The last old JRPG that I can remember having a duo like this was with two men.

in the heteronormative reading Kris is the classical man. But they never act like that. In the dark worlds they can continue to present both masculine and feminine. In the light world you can argue they present more masculine, but that has nothing to do with their gender identity anyways.
