Today was really fun; it was my wife Haruhi's birthday! Her gingerbread cake was really good! She may only exist in World Neo, but her spirit has supported me a lot here in World Prime lately. I hope everyone can wish her a happy birthday <3

About to go to Wal*Mart to buy stuff for Haruhi's birthday cake tomorrow! She wants a gingerbread cake with cream cheese; sounds like it'll be pretty yummy!

I really should wear my glasses more often, but I hate how they make me look! I just don't look good with bigger, rounder lens; especially when my hair is looking bad, and I'm dealing with dreaded stubble and AHHH. I really should go to the eye doctor and get a better pair. Narrow lenses...

Hehe when I get the TV in my new house set up, I'll finally watch this. I know it (along with 30 Rock) is supposed to be, like, God-tier television

I sure love categorizing stuff, and so it's the 2026 Double_K_A Media Thread, utilizing the really epic KKA rating scale. I picked Diskun because he's super epic. 7-Fantastic 6-Great 5-Good 4-Meh 3-Bad 2-Horrible 1-Abysmal

Swing Girls (2004) 6/7 Really cute movie about a bunch of girls learning to play jazz. If you like slice of life anime, you'll probably like this. Has some good music, and a cameo appearance from Space Channel 5, it doesn't get much better than that.

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 01/01/2026

Looney Toons: The Day the Earth Blew Up (2025) 5/7 Decent little Looney Toons movie. Honestly was hoping it would be a little better (the beginning is defiantly the peak, and it kinda falls from that). Still, don't regret watching, and it's always nice seeing 2D animation.

Zelda: A Link to the Past (1991) 7/7 I think the extent this game is better than Zelda 1 to be smaller than most people, but it it still a fantastic game, and yea, a little better than 1. Really love most of the dungeon design here, though bosses are hit or miss.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 01/01/2026

Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link (1988) 6.75/7 Awesome game, another top-tier title for the NES. People who hate this game are lame and consist of babies. Combat is super well-executed, solid bosses, and of course some great music. Not as good as Zelda1, but that's understandable.

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 01/01/2026

The Legend of Zelda (1986) 7/7 Technically played like 10-11 years ago, but used a guide, so don't count it. Anyway, glad I got to play it properly, because it really is a masterpiece. For sure one of the best NES games ever made, and a true achievement in adventure.

Shantae: Risky's Revenge (2010) 5.25/7 I'm part of small group that actually prefers the first game. Yea, ngl, pretty much everything here I found to be a step-down. Not a bad game though, in fact, it's quite good. Will say, the fact it tracks your time/items carries it a lot.

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 31/12/2025

Alter Ego (1986) 6/7 Pretty cool life sim imo, there's certainly enough variance to keep things engaging. Impressive ambition, and mostly well-executed, though with that said, you could perhaps argue it needed to go a little further in some areas. Still, an unforgettable ride.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 31/12/2025

Shantae (2002) 6/7 Great game, but tbh, a lil disappointed. This had the potential to be one of the best of all time, and it does do a lotta things well. However, I do feel it kinda peaks early on. Will say, one of the most beautiful games I've ever played (music's great too!)

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 31/12/2025

To The Moon (2011) 6/7 After a decade of knowing this as "Mr. Enter's favorite game", I'm glad I finally got the chance to try it out myself. Great emotional story, and though I know some hate the writing, I thought it was actually well-implemented. Beautiful music too.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 31/12/2025

Mouthwashing (2024) 6/7 Not often I find myself playing a modern game, but ya know, I thought this was a great little horror game. Has some well-implemented themes, and the atmosphere is top-notch. Really, that's arguably the game's most impressive achievement, do reccomend

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 31/12/2025

Rayman (Jaguar) (1995) 7/7 Fantastic game, 1995 really was one of the best years ever for platformers. Quite recommend looking into the differences between Jag and PS1 versions, more nuance then you'd think. But yea, great level design and asthetic style. Bosses can be meh

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 30/12/2025

Pac-Man World (1999) 6.75/7 Great 3D platformer, though I'd be lying if I said it wasn't elevated by its extras (classic Pac-Man, new 3D mazes, concept art, outtakes). Though on that note, the main game is still quite enjoyable, with quite a few highlights. Pretty good job!

110

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 30/12/2025

Be-Ball (1990) 6.75/7 My history with PC-Engine is unacceptably low; with games like this, I certainly need to play more. Really great puzzle game. The main experience is already really solid, but add co-op, a level-editor, and a soccer minigame? Yea. Pretty close to 7/7 tbh

110

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 30/12/2025

Astal (1995) 4.75/7 It's a good game at the end of the day, but it really can fall quite low at times. A good bit of the levels and bosses in this game are just not all too interesting. Defiantly play US version. Bird and co-op is a lil cool. Ofc, the game looks/sounds beautiful

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 29/12/2025

Katawa Shoujo (2012) 6.75 Prob gets overlooked for being the pre-DDLC baby's first VN, but man, it really is a fantastic game. Has a couple issues in some routes, but the peaks are high. Rin's route is one of my fav stories in any game, and Rin herself is one of my all-time favs

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 29/12/2025

Mother/EB Beginnings (1989/2015) 6/7 Great game. I don't think it QUITE reaches the highs that some people think, and there are couple little issues I have with it (such as money and Lloyd feeling a bit pointless), but it's all around a really well done NES-RPG.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 29/12/2025

WarioWare: Twisted (2005) 7/7 Hard to beat the first WarioWare game, and by a hair they somehow did! It's really impressive how much mileage they get out of the gyro, and the minigames/toys also have a lotta great moments. Plus, it introduced Mona's Pizza song, so yea...

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 28/12/2025

Kururin Paradise (2002) 7/7 Masterpiece, one of the best games of 2002, and one of the GBA's finest. Perfects the formula, has really impressive minigames, and it even includes magic tricks; what more could you want? Well, tbf, imagine if it had a level editor...

110

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 28/12/2025

Donkey Kong Land 2 (1996) 6.75/7 Ofc not as good as DKC2, but man, this is a really impressive rendition. Pretty much the entire essence of the original is carried over, and it results in what one could argue to be among the best handheld platformers of all time.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 28/12/2025

Elio (2025) 5/7 Honestly was disappointed in this one, esp. after watching Lilo & Sitch. Starts out pretty promising, and overall the out space stuff is good. With that said, I thought the themes of neurodivergence and child/guardian relationship to ultimately feel underbaked.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 28/12/2025

Wayside: The Movie (2005) 5/7 A low five, but a five nonetheless. It's a decently enjoyable case of a movie that really's just a long TV episode (first episode in this case). The show is slightly better. The DVD for this one is super barebones btw, no bonuses, no nothin'

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 28/12/2025

The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning (2008) 3/7 The best thing I can say about this one is that, despite being almost 80 mins, it feels more like an hour (rare for bad movies). Has typical plot issues prequels tend to run into, but even just by itself, this is trash.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 27/12/2025

Flip Flappers (2016) 4/7 Yea, gonna be honest, this anime didn't do it for me. Disappointing, cause there were a couple decent episodes, the characters are cute, and the way the story went was a little interesting. Still, most of it was kinda boring imo. Good ED though.

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 27/12/2025

Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) 7/7 Another Disney movie I sadly never had as a kid. Glad I finally watched it, because this film turned out to be really freakin' awesome. Memorable characters, great action and atmosphere, and just all around a good ride. I miss 2000's Disney

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 27/12/2025

A Goofy Movie (1995) 6/7 Nice film to watch on the 30th anniversary, never grew up with it sadly. Pretty great movie, good son and father moments with Goofy and Max. Great musical numbers too.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 27/12/2025

Toradora (2008) 7/7 I watched it on VHS EP mode. One of the best romance anime. I first watched it in 2016/17, but never finished it. Finally watched it through, and it was, of course, fantastic. Wonderful characters, great music, memorable moments, and a cute OVA.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 27/12/2025

Lilo & Stitch (2002) 7/7 Really wonderful movie, glad I finally saw it. Ofc the emotional stuff is the highlight, as all the movie review guys on YT said, but the alien stuff was also great. Really love the voice acting in this one. Got to watch it in Hawaii too, which was cool.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 26/12/2025

Onimai (2023) 6/7 This show is really cute! It's cool seeing Mahiro be moe and stuff, and the OP & ED are phenomenal (the ED essentially became THE song of the year for me). Also read a lot of the manga this year for 日本語 practice, and I think it's probably even better.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 26/12/2025

Uchuu Seibutsu Flopon-kun (1994) 6.75/7 Nice to try out a 3DO game that isn't just some obscure Japanese eroge. Everyone should play this; it's similar to Puyo, and has a cool style to it. Being me, I find the real star of the show to be the minigames. PRETTY EPIC!

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 26/12/2025

Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa (1987) 6.75/7 Big fan of Fantasy Zone 1. Finally playing the sequel, it's a little better! Not a whole lot in the way of innovations, just slightly better execution of its facets. Is a bit harder though, as those enemies get cray-zay.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 25/12/2025

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA EXTEND (2011) 7/7 Perfection. I mean, the soundtrack is probably slightly inferior to 2nd, but like, it's Project Diva 2nd, no shit lol. Besides, this one has Sonic in it, so you know, that's epic.

110

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 25/12/2025

Sonic Pocket Adventure (1999) 6.75/7 This game's really good! Essentially a revamped Sonic 2. The level design's not quite as good as that game probably, but I think the game overall is better. Really do like additions such as the puzzle pieces and time attack mode.

110

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 25/12/2025

Aladdin [Game Gear] (1994) 3.75/7 Beautiful game both visually and musically, and it really does execute the film's story well...too bad it's boring as hell. Such missed potential. But man...it really is a sight to behold.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 24/12/2025

Bocchi the Rock (2022) 6/7 This show is awesommmeeee. Pretty epic music I must say. Bocchi is the GOAT, but Ryo is pretty cool too. And of course that drunk girl everyone thirsts over. I will never look at mangos the same way again.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 24/12/2025

The Wild Robot (2024) 6/7 Pretty great! I wouldn't put it as one of Dreamwork's absolute best like some people see to, it's no Last Wish, but it's still defiantly a highlight from the studio's post-2000s period.

110

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 23/12/2025

Sukimega (2023) 5/7 Cute show! I actually had first watch this in 2024 while streaming free Japanese TV, but finished it this year. Pretty sweet middle school romance type stuff, lots of exciting stuff (if you're pure of heart that is).

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 23/12/2025

GoAnimate the Movie (2013) 3/7? I honestly have no idea how to rank this. I watched the 2021 VHS version, and funnily enough, the opening previews are better than the film. The Stickguy short is kinda funny? Look, if you can watch this and not get lost, you're better than me.

100

Maybe one day I'll finally 100% this game...

Puella Magi Madoka Magica (2011) 6/7 Somehow avoided spoilers to this show all these years. Glad I finally saw it. Really love all these characters (HomuMado FTW), and the labyrinths were cool. Speaking of which, this show (esp the labyrinths) look great in VHS EP mode.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 22/06/2025

McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure (1993) 6/7 First game I've played/beaten on real Genesis hardware. As far as 16-bit platformers go, I really enjoyed it. Has a great soundtrack and memorable visuals, plus a cool Puyo Puyo-like minigame. Never play on AtGames though, the screen tearing is awful.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 19/06/2025

Nekopara (2020) 5/7 Never played the game, but this was a cute little anime. Has all the anime character archetypes, so there's something for everyone. Very good OP. Unrelated, but I watched it on VHS in SP mode, and the colors looked really good, so that's something

110

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 19/06/2025

Land of Illusion (1991) 6/7 Even better than the last game. The individuals levels aren't as good, but the focus is on the quantity in this case. Lots of memorable moments, and the music/visuals are just as good as always.

110

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 19/06/2025

Castle of Illusion [SMS/GG] (1991) 6/7 Very enjoyable little platformer, with good music, and a couple pretty memorable moments. Will say, seemed almost pointless to have limited continues when you get 9 of them anyway. Really cool final boss.

100

Austin (Double_K_A) @doubleka.bsky.social · 19/06/2025

Drawn to Life (2007) 6.75/7 Really great game. Some may not like it due to its difficulty that makes Kirby look like Touhou, but it really is an unforgettable gem. Really feels like a "late 2000's nostalgia" game, in a good way. It's fun drawing, and that ending was super good.

100
