A new screenshot of the same Miriam Webster, dictionary post on blue sky, this time stopped on the word “slapdash“… because I didn’t read the instructions clearly the first time. Instead of pausing the video at a “random” point, I took a screenshot of the GIF while it’s running revealing my true word for 2026–because my first attempt was indeed…slapdash. The gif is magic!

while my central coast friends had their earthquake, i saw a zeppelin over san francisco bay portents and whatnot

A photo through the passenger side window of a moving car. Past a concrete barrier we see San Francisco Bay looking North toward San Francisco from the 92 Hwy. In the mid-right of the photo, above the water and the low clouds hanging close to the horizon we see in the air a white shape—ignoring as we must the accidental double-reflection of the top of the driver’s commuter coffee mug above and below the shape. If we were to zoom in we would see, just out of focus, the shape appears to be a long white cylinder hanging in the air (exactly the way bricks don’t) parallel to the horizon, but headed at an oblique angle to the viewer so that the cylinder is foreshortened. Further analysis reveals its nature: a lighter-than-air dirigible, longer than a blimp — in essence, a Zeppelin. A sight not seen in these skies to the best of this author’s knowledge in more than 10 years…

made casarecce pasta and jarred vodka sauce with cans of pink salmon tonight — rotating through emergency stocks. i made a lot for leftovers and it’s very mid — but if i were legit in an emergency it would smash. tip: vacuum seal & organize sachets of spices and whatnot (i need to do this)
