I don’t know when it happened but VRC has lost it’s magic for me. Used to be the place where I could be myself and met many people I really cared about. But as people moved on it’s just turned into a cycle of getting hurt or sometimes abused the minute I let down my guard… idk if I’m alone with that

Don't get me wrong, I also think that this headset is more a business move than a love letter to the VR community. It's pretty disappointing from a tech perspective otherwise imho. I've said as much when it was revealed.

That's the key point tho. I think a lot of people are happy to just get off Quest even if there is no other major upsides. And I feel that one tbh ... getting my Quest Pro to work is always a dance of refreshing/resetting VD, restarting the headset, powering it off and back on ... etc.

Funfact: This seems to be how it works on the switch 2. If you buy a banned console it cannot run key only cartridges nor can you connect to the store. Same goes for cloned cartridges (even though it seems like those do get unbanned if you contact support).

Before I forget: SteamLink not connecting also applies to VD if your PC doesn’t show or auth fails. WiFi/Networking on the pro is just broken tbh

Additionally, the logs like to be filled with another few messages like that before providing anything actually useful which on the default Unity layout means that it seems like it just repeats the same nonsense as the SDK at first glance.

Finally got myself a 6DOF mouse to make world work a bit easier ... just one issue: For some reason @vrchat.com always sees a scroll-up input in the UI even when the mouse is off and disabled for VRC in software. It's the only application that does this and I'm confused as hell.

I’ve used it since the start. If it didn’t exist I would’ve sent back the headset. Especially since Steam Link on it still seems blurry regardless of settings.

I’m actually not typically using the controllers so mostly don’t care. The other issues have occurred on practically all my friends headsets and I’ve factory reset a few times now because the OS updates also never go smoothly. Only thing they seemed to finally have fixed is the artifacting/tearing.

Also not mentioning the official way of running PCVR on it because that's just pain and suffering ... and also just salt in the wound after they removed the USB networking drivers from the headset.

I'm not even going to get into that. My Pro has a screeching mic, sometimes runs one eye at different FPS (or doesn't turn on), hangs up every couple of months, loads my home character in static T-Pose, sometimes randomly turns off Wi-Fi, has overheating controllers and often disconnects them ...

Mostly depends on the world. If there’s already a depth light you aren’t adding much. If there’s isn’t, it’s somewhat expensive compared to not having it. For clubs everyone using VRSL lights (and sometimes fog) will already have that. Would be more worried about it breaking with mirrors/effects.

I'd say I'm disappointed but tbh this is practically what I expected (and been saying for months). A Quest competitor rather than something for die hard VR users. Will absolutely get myself a new Steam Controller though. Loved the old one but the lack of sticks made it annoying as a daily driver.
