Looking forward to the incarnation of the next chapter - sounds like aurevoir rather than goodbye - still lots to be discussed.

It's the all (too) powerful food industry. Plus time factor. Always amazes me cost doesn't factor more. A carrot is a hell of a lot cheaper than any bought crap. Also education, but no doubt the Right would shout 'Nanny State'.

It's all very well spending billions aiding Ukraine's efforts but surely the only way to end this is to physically put troops in and push Russia out?

Janan Ganesh writes a lot of nonsense a lot of the time, but the idea a National Care Service is anti-growth is bollocks for the ages. Freeing up NHS beds and staff to accelerate treatment times, and family members to work and generate wealth, is about as pro-growth as you can get.

At least Burnham doesn’t pretend to care about growth
Unlike his predecessors, Britain’s prime minister is a fairly honest stagnation-ist

It's the biggest issue of our time. It should totally undo Reform. They spin it that the climate has always changed and the masses can't discern the emergency. Thick selfish twats.

‘Honest Bob’ Jenrick says he wants to “abolish” Natural England, and at the very least stop funding it, in the first 100 days of a putative Reform government. Reform may appear to be on the rocks currently but their plans are terrifying, mad & must be stopped. www.theguardian.com/politics/liv...
Jenrick: “Even if you can’t abolish, I don’t know, Natural England within the first 100 days, you can stop funding it, you can turn the tap off and the tap will be turned off a lot of these quangos, and that will drive savings.”

Is Burnham sewing the seeds of a national debate on Brexit damage that will crescendo into a clamour for, if not fully rejoin, but signing up to CU? Only then does he get the mandate to act. If he gets it wrong now it'll set it back decades more.

Iceland is not in the EU, but it is a member of the Schengen area. It’s also a member of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and is part of the Single Market, meaning it enjoys freedom of movement with the EU. Good to know that doesn’t impact their independence. Maybe we should try it, Nige.

Our daughter was offered her first job out of UCL, with a first class hons, at a local company in a graduate role. The salary was so derisory she turned it down. She could have lived at home and we subsidised her but it was v poor. She held out and it paid off for her. Salaries need to be fair.

I get it and finiancial self sufficiency in adult life is pretty crucial. But it does impoverish society and humanity if students shy away from studying the arts due to how these subjects are undervalued.

No it isn't actually. It takes 2 sides to make an agreement and make it work. If you're ever on the wrong side of the govt and we're outside the ECHR - good luck. You assume this will never happen to you - I doubt I'll be lobbying for you!

We're also very wasteful and selfish. Historically most regions are not dry so it's seen as an anomaly not worthy of investment (similar to not investing to cope with snow). Climate change is here so we'd better wake up.
