This is the biggest attack on free speech since the McCarthy era but it also has significantly less popular consensus behind it than the second Red Scare. It's being done on behalf of a minority faction led by the most unpopular president in modern history. Organizing against this can win.

I don’t talk to my extended family much now that my grandparents are gone. However, one of them came into my DMs recently to argue with me about CK and trying to spin it that I’m a bad person because I’m not backing down from calling out his awful behavior and not mourning his death. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Those costumes — created by Christine Wada, Gypsy Taylor and their respective teams — are legitimately works of art. I’d feel differently if they were cut in on the auction, but that’s not the case. I’m glad these things still exist, just be clear where your money’s going.

These items are largely just Warner Discovery office supplies. If they didn’t care enough about the fandom to continue the show — as was their right — I don’t really think that same fandom should help them recoup in any way. Or help some sketch third party who bought the items from a prop house.

Before you spend money on that auction, please know that those are only props and costumes. They hold no magic. The coolest things are the things you made around the show. I’m ambivalent about auctions around Our Flag that don’t benefit an independent artist or larger cause.

#LGBTQWriteAThon June 12: Two that are VERY important to me are "I Wish You All the Best," (literally the very first time I ever saw a nonbinary character as an MC) & The Reanimator series, depicting autism & neurodivergence in a varied & individual way. Both had & continue to have an impact.

Cover of the book "I Wish You all the Best" by Mason Deaver, which features a pale individual with messy brown hair, thick, dark brown eyebrows, and a small, tired smile, leaning against the shoulder of a taller individual with dark skin and a pale yellow tee shirt.

Book cover of "The Reanimator's Heart" by Kara Jorgensen that features a dark background with the red, silhouetted profiles of two men dressed in gentleman's clothing. They face each other and are connected to an image in the center, which is a drawing of an anatomically correct heart, illustrated in all red with black depictions of the blood vessels that bring blood to the heart.

Jonathan Joss--voice actor of John Redcorn from King of the Hill, and Ken Hotate from Parks and Rec--was killed in a homophobic hate crime today. I'm so angry.

Statement from Tristan Kern de Gonzales
Husband of Jonathan Joss

My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at the site of our former home. That home was burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire. We reported these threats to law enforcement multiple times and nothing was done.

Throughout that time we were harassed regularly by individuals who made it clear they did not accept our relationship. Much of the harassment was openly homophobic.

When we returned to the site to check our mail we discovered the skull of one of our dogs and its harness placed in clear view. This caused both of us severe emotional distress. We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw.

While we were doing this a man approached us. He started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired.

Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone. We were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life.

Jonathan is my husband. He gave me more love in our time together than most people ever get. We were newlyweds. We picked Valentines Day. We were in the process of looking for a trailer and planning our future.

He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other.

I was with him when he passed. I told him how much he was loved.

To everyone who supported him, his fans, his friends, know that he valued you deeply. He saw you as family.

My focus now is on protecting Jonathan’s legacy and honoring the life we built together.

If your concern is how someone coped with trauma or how loudly they speak when recounting injustice and being ignored by authorities then you never truly cared about my husband.

Jonathan saved my life. I will carry that forward. I will protect what he built.

Tristan Kern de Gonzales

I’m so tired of the term queerbait being used so fast & loose. If anything at this point Buddie is a shipbait bc one of the characters involved is actually and canonically under the queer umbrella as a bisexual man. IDK I’m just so exhausted of it all. I’ve been QB’d by Teen Wolf, this ain’t it.

I really have aged out of being in passionate fandom spaces. Because what do you mean the whole fandom is mad at RG for choosing the word homosexual instead of bisexual and I’m over here just feeling “there are definitely more pressing things in the world to be upset at”.
