AFRICA TIMETABLE: Migrants deported from the EU could be sent to countries such as Rwanda or Uganda from as early as next year.

Five EU countries aim to have their plan to process migrants deported from the EU ready for a pilot project in the first half of 2027, and have it fully operational by the second half of the year, Greece’s Migration Minister Thanos Plevris told Playbook in an interview.

Core Group: Denmark, Austria, Greece, Germany and the Netherlands — the so-called “Core Group” or “Group of 5” — have spearheaded the push to process people deported from Europe to outside the EU. According to several diplomats, the first deal will be with Rwanda. Other countries under discussion are Uganda and Uzbekistan.

The 🇩🇪 federal government plans to increase military expenditure sharply by 2030 (real growth of 56.8%). Spending in several other areas, esp. education and health, is projected to decline in real terms. Interest payments will rise - mostly because of defence.

I was there too - travelling by train, but not that this matters in the bigger scheme of things. This type of conferencing is unsustainable given fuel prices, climate catastrophes and infrastructure breakdowns. And its just one part of the academic business model breaking down.
