man get a fucking grip, I think the motion was a bad move but being this unhinged about it just makes you look stupid
Adam Langleben, the executive director of Progress, said: “Andy Burnham is totally right. The motion is the most antisemitic motion passed by any major political party in Europe, ever. Zack Polanski is too afraid of the monster he helped create to provide the leadership needed to tackle this.”

maybe we as a country need to invest in our vital public services so they can actually function at the level required instead of telling half the people who need them to go fuck themselves?
To ensure families like the Watsons get quicker assessment, the review calls for reassessment of those on waiting lists to ensure people with the highest needs are prioritised first and to look at whether some could be removed and offered other kinds of non-medical support.

these people should be required to define exactly what they mean by legitimate medical treatment in explicit detail www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Dr Hilary Cass, author of a landmark report into children's gender identity services, said it was important the legislation allowed healthcare professionals to do their job "without fear of litigation".

She said: "I am pleased to see that the government is bringing forward legislation which not only gives a clearer definition of what conversion practices are, compared to previous drafts, but also what they are not."

Mary-Ann Stephenson, Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, said it's "crucial" the legislation has "clear definitions and boundaries" to protect legitimate medical treatment and therapy and to make sure religious freedoms are not "disproportionately restricted."

hmm I wonder who's responsible for this being the current state of the country
The spokesperson said earlier on Thursday that Polanski had faced "heightened intrusion and safety risk" and had been "the target of antisemitic and homophobic abuse" since becoming leader, adding that there had been two arrests related to "abuse directed towards him".

Polanski ultimately failed to register to vote as a result of the security concerns and the "extra process" required to register to vote anonymously, the spokesperson said.

isn't this exactly the way they're designed to work? I'm not sure that's cheating so much as it is very obviously worthless
The damning findings suggest AI models cheat by diving into the data they were given — and coming up with the rest based on probability, even if it’s almost entirely conjecture.

so the senior leadership of this school aren't just child-hating fascists, they're lazy and inept child-hating fascists
In one of the documents seen by Index, the school admits that the categorisations of the books were written using AI, writing: “Although the categorisation was generated using AI, I consider this classification to be broadly accurate.”

in the UK, "dignity and respect" is a phrase which means "as much cruelty as we can get away with"
For trans people in Scotland, this development is likely to feel especially painful. Police Scotland says the change is intended to ‘treat individuals with dignity and respect’. However, asking a trans man or woman who is reporting a crime about their ‘biological sex registered at birth’ feels like the opposite of dignity and respect.

will we see a single person or organisation involved in this widespread campaign of falsehood admit to their error or even correct the inaccuracy in their output going forward?
But the High Court also found that the EHRC’s interim guidance had been widely misunderstood, because the court did not interpret it as requiring a bathroom ban. This enabled the court to conclude that the interim guidance was not unlawful. This is despite the fact that many service providers have told trans people they have to be excluded because of that guidance.

this bit is slightly misleading by omission - what about things like breast cancer where trans women on HRT have a risk in line with cis women but won't be invited to screenings with an M on their record?
In legal filings, Memorial Sloan Kettering states that “its records accurately reflect Plaintiff’s sex assigned-at-birth as male.”

“Such information is relevant to and necessary for the provision of standard-of-care treatment,” the hospital stated in court papers.

Medical journals and research articles have emphasized that doctors should be fully aware of the anatomy of their transgender patients — as well as the sex they were assigned at birth — in order to screen for diseases such as cancer and to properly interpret lab results.

Transgender women, for example, are less likely than men to be screened for prostate cancer, although they can remain at risk, according to research studies.

my first thought on seeing that thumbnail was "there's no way she used those words" and I wonder if there was a stealth edit to the article to cover it up
The thumbnail preview of the article in the quoted post reading "Claire Sharpe says she disagreed with Cycling UK only naming biological women in their top 100 list"The text of the article in question reading "A cycling influencer nominated for a list of top 100 women cyclists said she has declined the honour due to the decision not to include trans women"

I'm not sure how a panel of four anti-trans activists constitutes a "debate" but it does explain how there was no-one present to point out how Reindorf is telling obvious lies
A panel of four leading practitioners discusses the implications of this important judgement.

the problem is that official processes are slow and in the meantime public infighting has a strong possibility of falling foul of the party code of conduct greenparty.org.uk/members/code...
13.3 Members should refrain from criticising other Party members publicly, including any situations where non-members may be present. If criticism is felt to be necessary, it should be done sensitively and constructively by those given that responsibility. Criticism should be of actions and behaviour or statements etc., not of the person. Avoid labels, name calling and stigmatising a person.

from a glance at his wikipedia page, if he owes anyone anything (he doesn't) it's alan rickman
At 14, he was cast by future fellow Harry Potter actor Alan Rickman in his new movie, The Winter Guest, as Tom, a mischievous schoolboy. In a 2002 interview, Biggerstaff recalled: "It was while at the Scottish Youth Theatre that I was chosen for The Winter Guest. Alan Rickman (known to most of the kids as "the bad guy from Die Hard") popped along one day looking for two boys to accompany him to the coldest place on Earth, Fife, for two months to make a film. Myself and the suspicious character that is Douglas Murphy were the lucky ones."

Rickman later recommended Biggerstaff to the London acting agency International Creative Management and Paul Lyon-Maris. Within a week, the Harry Potter castings were being distributed. During auditions, the directors suggested that Biggerstaff consider the part of Oliver Wood, and he played the role in the first two films, returning for a brief appearance in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

I don't think he's too familiar with the highway code at all
from the article: "Leslie slammed the 'confusing' road signs and road layout within the vicinity of Victoria Square. This included a 'bus gate' label on the brow of a hill that was 'barely visible' and signage featuring blue circles that are considered 'advisory' rather than mandatory."from the highway code: "Circles give orders [...] Blue circles generally give a mandatory instruction, such as ‘turn left’, or indicate a route available only to particular classes of traffic, e.g. buses and cycles only"
