I stopped playing the series after 2 for similar reasons. It felt pretty aimless and things felt a bit like wallpaper. The game started feeling like it was playing itself as well. This is where it hit style over substance for me The new finale for FF7Remake did this to me too. Felt weird and random

Fired up Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles again because i still adore that little game. I'd love a fun little stylized hack n slash multi-player ff romp like this with friends. The progression and some of the systems are a bit wonky for it, but I adore the music, art, and general feel of the game

I do think Jessie was also a bit heavy handed overall. I also don't really know what's going on with some of the other character developments that were not in the original, like Wedge and Biggs. Red XIII continues to be one of my favorite FF7 characters

Cloud is actually much better than I expected him to be, and the rest of the cast so far is pretty great. Lots of fun goofy stuff. The last act gets so obscenely overcooked because they gotta make a finale, but it's turbo KH-coded. The whispers bit is very... idk. Feels weird. Good game though.

Just finished FF7 Remake. Very worthwhile. The new narrative stuff is about half and half good and confounding. Also Barrett is funny, but man, is he like... really stupid and bad at what he does, lol. Next will be DLC and then Rebirth, which I hear is a monster of a game to get through.
