the one thing with french orthography that has always messed with me is where to put the stray accents like circumflexes, because it isn't clear you even pronounce them differently half the time (all the letters that are silent—which is like half of them—were drilled into me at a very young age)

i mean yeah it would have to be layers upon layers of metadata, and there would have to be all sorts of subsidiary/tributary interfaces; the data model alone would be staggering it would be quite an undertaking to pull something like that off
