Everybody called me crazy when I said the marketing was weird, that Nintendo was clearly hiding the true scope of the game, that there was something important about the desert on the cover art. I'm so goddamn hyped, merry Christmas!

In 2022, I streamed Hollow Knight and infamnously didn't enjoy my time with it. 2 weeks ago, I embarked on the journey again, attempting to give it a second chance and see it through to the very end. I'm happy to report that Hollow Knight is goddamn fantastic.

The Tony Hawk 3+4 remakes are finally scratching that itch Mario Kart World failed on, also you can use the classic DoomGuy skin with the Slayer. Incredible. Gonna be revisiting this throughout the year.

Thunderbolts* to me feels like the writers came up with an incredible idea for a 3rd act but then remembered at the last second they had to write the rest of the movie like a week before filming. 6/10

Daredevil: Born Again is seriously a contender for one of the best comic book adaptations I've ever seen, and stunningly relevant in ways I'm not even sure the showrunners fully intended. 10/10 I'm floored and eagerly awaiting season 2 (or 5 I guess?)

There's been a noticeable uptick recently of legacy metal artists resorting to AI album covers/music videos and it's unbelievably disappointing.

Daredevil: Born Again is absolutely incredible so far, which is insane because had you pitched this premise to me I'd mostly hate it. In practice it's incredibly compelling and RISKY. So far these risks are really paying off for myself though which is something Marvel has desperately been missing.

I gotta say man, as a metal fan it infuriates me how the entire metal community has completely swept Phil Anselmo's history of racism and white supremacist comments under the rug for decades where even progressive musicians like Tom Morello are directing tours with him and supporting him.

One thing that stood out to me about Mario Kart 9 that I haven't seen anyone talk about yet is how oddly flat the track is. Usually Mario Kart is a bit more elevated (especially after the introduction of anti-gravity) so this feels like more of a throwback to earlier design sensibilities.

2025 is shaping up to be one of the most stacked years in recent gaming memory. We still have so much unknown on the horizon as well, especially regarding the Switch 2 lineup. Terrified for my wallet, but hyped nonetheless.
