The advice for harvesting rose hips is to wait until the first frost….. what about when you live in today’s climate where frosts are rare?

I don’t know why the water at the Portbury Wharf nature reserve was so horrible today! First time seeing a whimbrel there. It didn’t pick the best place to stop for a drink and a wash, ew. Hopefully some rain will sort the scummy water out. #UKBirding

The wildlife group I'm in posted about the data centre being built near by on facebook and its just another reminder why I don't go on there unless I really have to. So many comments about how if we didn't want data centres, we shouldn't be posting on the internet or using computers etc.

This is how I feel about my life too. The pain absolutely sucks but I am sitting in bed drinking coffee, with my husband and cat, looking out over the trees and hills, birds singing, and working on a drawing of a bird. So much to live for.

It might just look like mud but at this time of year it's covered in birds. Here's some of the redshank.

This might not look like much but it’s some of the Saltmarsh between Portishead and Avonmouth. In the winter, this area get thousands of migratory shorebirds who stop off or overwinter here. They’re already trying to expand Avonmouth car storage and now this.

Saw the coolest caterpillar today. I think it’s a pale tussock moth

Thanks! Last time she wouldn’t let the vet examine her at all. I’ve got a lot of recent photos of her yawning just in case - Dental stuff is covered on our insurance but only if they have yearly checks.

All the talk of the Bayeux tapestry on the news made me venture into the attic and find my France trip 1994 diary and souvenirs :D I was 11.

I am making an accessibility guide to the best places to see nature in our town. I printed a little mock up today its looking good. I feel like I'm actually doing something to contribute to the world (well my tiny part).

All the birds were on this little bit of beach. At first glance it looked like there was nothing there and then you see a tiny bit of movement and realize that there are birds everywhere!

Shorebird season brings me such joy! We managed to see lots of ringed plover, dunlin, turnstone, a few sanderling and curlew sandpiper, and then the heavens opened. Shaft beach just near the Severn Bridge. #UKBirding

Arty used to sleep in this cube atleast a few hours a day and I cannot face moving it. Their wooden boxes on my desk I had to move straight away as them being empty was too hard to bear whilst I work.
