He's careful as he rests his palm properly over Hawks’ ear, not moving any more than he has to. Hawks’ has a thing about Dabi stroking his hair. It's something that Dabi will usually exploit because it embarrasses Hawks how easily he bends beneath Dabi's hand.

Hawks’ fingers are shaking as they dig into Dabi's thigh. He struggles to let go, and Dabi thinks Hawks must've realized he was gripping too hard. His hand searches blindly, finding Dabi's elbow and following the lines of his forearm up to fall over his knuckles.

Dabi doesn't do anything to cause Hawks further discomfort but he whines anyway. Because that's what it has to be even if Dabi's never heard him make that sound before, too low and coming from the back of Hawks' throat, in a way that is distincly avian.

Hawks isn't open to touch when he's like this so Dabi does his best not to. But it's okay for Hawks to touch him, to grab and hold anything he can reach. He won't tell Hawks that his talons are digging too hard into a stapled seam that runs along the outside of his thigh.

Well, Dabi couldn't leave if he wanted to. Hawks keeps tensing, head laid in Dabi's lap, scrunched up impossibly small on his couch. His wings hang off the edge of the cushions, just shy of brushing against the floor. Dabi thinks that's on purpose.
