Call me crazy but public executions don’t seem like a sign of a healthy society.

He certainly was. And…he didn’t just tell me with words. He demonstrated it daily in how he treated my mother…with love, devotion, respect, etc. I miss him, but he lives on in this way.

What a strange perspective on “manhood” from this guy. My father (of the WWII generation) taught me that you could never be a good man if you didn’t hold women in the highest regard or treat them with the utmost respect. He told me those men who did otherwise were practically irredeemable.

Wait until you find out how many people have been murdered by U.S. Empire and its…uh…”interventions.”

The original version of the song was written for a stage musical about vampires in love.

Encouraging principled positions = moral superiority? What a depressing state indeed.

Isn’t it amazing how everyone just abandoned the idea of living by principles and adopted the cynicism of mere outcomes? It’s wild that a saying pointing out how crucial integrity is to a life well lived has been reduced to a “philosophical tone.”

There’s no rule saying you have to play him. The coach may have lost his job, but could have kept his integrity and self respect. What a shame.

The team didn’t have to accept the corrupt outcome…but they did.

More points on the scoreboard does not make one a winner.

The team could’ve maintained its integrity by not playing Balogun. Instead…they chose to ignore the obvious corruption and thus becoming complicit. Fuck em.

After a phone call following the game, FIFA just announced the scoreboard malfunctioned and put the 4 in the wrong spot. The final score was actually 14-0 in favor of the U.S.

The USMT could have maintained their integrity and benched the player in question…they chose to benefit from the obvious corruption. The team is complicit which makes them just as repugnant as dear leader Don.

Do you mean a person who is genuinely curious why someone is mocking me for wishing FIFA had take more principled approach to this situation? Yes…I suppose I am that person. Do you have anything more to add?

I said that…as you admitted. Adding that it violates the spirit of the amendment in no way negates my prior statement. It is merely pointing out my feelings on the matter. I did not dispute that those were my feelings, so why say “those are only feelings” when that point has already been conceded?

What?
000
donsbaseball.bsky.social @donsbaseball.bsky.social · 17/06/2026
Correct…unless you somehow believe the spirit of said amendment did not precede its codification? If you’d like to defend that its legal underpinnings aren’t informed by a motivating principle…then have at it. I can’t wait to hear this one.
100
donsbaseball.bsky.social @donsbaseball.bsky.social · 17/06/2026
How can you say it means nothing when the spirit of said amendment preceded its codification? That’s absurd…unless you believe principles exist in a vacuum & don’t inform the law. The reason this censorious behavior is disgusting has nothing to do with its legality…but with the absence of principle

While this action does not violate the letter of the 1st Amendment…it tramples all over the spirit of it.

True, but the real Kaepernick crime was the blacklisting he endured from the NFL. There were a number of worse QBs sitting on benches across the league collecting hefty paychecks while he was elbowed out.

In this current moment, I can’t imagine still believing in “just vote harder this time” or thinking that “more policing will solve the problem with policing.” And yes…the real tell-tale sign was when they defended a position of “Please don’t disrupt ICE violence…we might lose votes.” WTF

It’s not different at all. The governor sent an inherently racist, oppressive institution to “deal with” the presence of another inherently racist, oppressive institution. What could possibly go wrong?

You’re not going to vote your way out of this. What about 2020? Were any of the powerful J6 perps held to account? Are they now in prison where they belong? No…they’re right back in power and worse than ever because Democrats are spineless. I see some promising newcomers but not holding my breath.

Police are absolutely infiltrated with proud boys, oath keepers, & other white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups. This is well-documented. And no…I do not accept that police must “strategically” move forward. If a “good one” chooses to abdicate their duty to serve & protect…then they too are corrupt.
100
donsbaseball.bsky.social @donsbaseball.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
Sure…far-right extremists like the Trump administration famously scale down forces and draw back on the violence as soon as they’re ensured that the Democrats have things under control. What is that fantasy land like?
000
donsbaseball.bsky.social @donsbaseball.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
They absolutely can & should. They swear an oath to the Constitution…to the rule of law. If ICE or anyone else attacks a citizen or disproportionately metes out violence, it is their sworn duty to intervene. And how is it helping the situation to send more proud boys (state police) to Delaney?
120
donsbaseball.bsky.social @donsbaseball.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
I guess it’s better for state violence to come from a Democrat than Republicans? Is this really the position to take?
100
donsbaseball.bsky.social @donsbaseball.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize state police were protecting protesters by battling ICE agents and proud boys. Good for them.

I don’t mean soft, moderate rhetoric. Sorry if that was unclear. I’d like to see her call for an end to ALL of this ICE shit. Be a leader. And whatever you do…do NOT call in the state police to “defend” a federal building. She should use that “no power” to her advantage.

When Mamdani had his historic win, the media tried to convince us that more moderates were the key holding up spannberger and Sherrill as proof against the rising tide of progressivism. Mamdani is proving progressivism is the only viable path and ironically so are the two moderates

She could say something…Condemn the presence of right-extremism…Call for an end to concentration camps…etc…etc… Just simply standing with the citizens protesting for a righteous cause sends a powerful message.

Why does this shit happen only on one side? Does anyone have a single example of a Republican running on a right-wing agenda, but then flips the script to leftism once in office? Anyone?

I absolutely agree. It may be a bit naive, but forgive me if I think the current toxic sludge of cynicism isn’t an improvement over a little bit of inspiration & wonder. As a kid, watching my heroes play was pure magic, and I never once thought about the line in Vegas. It’s positively heartbreaking.

It’s time for Americans to recognize this is who we are. Donald Trump’s bloated, gnarled, corrupt ass is the perfect avatar for this wasteland. Of course there’s a bloodsport arena being built on the White House lawn for Orange Julius Caesar. This shit was inevitable.
