It’s irritating seeing what’s happening here in America today, knowing what was coming in advance and how many opportunities we had to course correct. You can’t let billionaires hoard purchasing power in the stock market and grow more powerful than the government itself. That should’ve been obvious.

Our mom just kicked my brother Simon out of his home because he's trans, and he now has nowhere to stay. He needs enough money for a down payment for an apartment & to sustain living on his own. Even if you can't donate, boosts are appreciated. Thanks 💛 gofund.me/9d36d6ef

The picture is a screenshot of my brother Simon's gofundme, with text above that says "Homeless for being Trans: Support for Simon"

Me, but not actually me at all because it's actually a drawing.

A cool dude with a blue snapback, round golden glasses and a joyful expression. He may be slightly less cool than last we saw him, but that's okay because we understand that coolness has it's ups and downs like the stock-market and various other things of that nature.

“Everyone should be welcome to debate in the free marketplace of ideas” presumes all debaters are approaching in good faith. We can discuss anything we want here, but if you’re here with ulterior motives to parrot your big money corporate backers, go back to quarantine!!! 🫵🥴

“Why can’t you respect people who have opposing views?” The opposing views in question: “you should die lol”

Something he created set me on a quest to reach the North Star. Chromokopia is a reminder that stars are good for navigation, but they exist in the sky while life happens on the ground. Feeling fear and paranoia is being human, and bravery isn’t the absence of fear but acting in spite of it.

It’s kind of interesting how that works. He presented an ideal, one that lit a fire in me and that I’m grateful for, and just when I needed it most, he reminded me that ideals are just beacons to follow, not destinations one can reach. I could’ve run myself crazy trying to capture the uncatchable.

On “Take Your Mask Off” he raps “paranoid since nineteen, nervous system shook”. I always wondered how someone could be as brash and uncompromising as Tyler was and is and not be shook, but here he’s saying it was never real.

I’ve come a long way since then, but no matter how far I climb, my goal seems forever out of reach. I can never seem to reach that feeling of distilled identity and self-assuredness I’m looking for. Enter Chromokopia. This is Tyler’s most vulnerable album to date, and he finally takes the mask off.

I’ve found a lot of inspiration in Tyler, as he’s the type of artistic polymath that I’ve always aspired to be, but I’ve especially found inspiration in his uncompromising fearlessness and authenticity. It lit a spark in me a few years ago and I charted a path to my own self actualization.

It took a few listens to sink in, but Tyler, The Creator’s Chromokopia is a very important and life-changing album to me, and I want to talk about it.
