Started writing a new original Thomas story. No spoilers on what it's about but it's one I've been on and off with whether or not if I should go forward with it due to the subject matter (One of which has become prominent in recent months) but then I just went "Sod it!"

A new DoubleM Models purchase. A replica of the Stewart Reidpath model that Awdry used for his Thomas model. I'm not sure what engine in real life its based on. I'm leaning towards the Furness Railway G5.

A random pic of Dom with a top hat and bow tie. For context: This was done as a template for a thumbnail for a cover of 'The One Who's Running The Show' from 'The Amazing Digital Show' with some of the lyrics changed.

Something a bit more positive this time. Something I made a while back. A head on promo of Dom in the style of those head on promos from that encyclopedia sold in Japan. Made using a mix of MS Paint and Photoshop. No AI was used at all.

In my previous post, I mentioned something about being tagged about 'Steam Railway Stories'. This is the tag in question and was posted a few months ago. They have also brought up my series in the comments of videos and posts that aren't really STS themed.

I apologise if this comes off as blunt, but it's an issue that's being on my mind for quite some time that I just had to get it off my chest.

Update: I'm starting to feel a bit better. The headache is still knocking but not as much as before. I was able to sleep better too and I'm not wobbling about when I walk. To those who sent their get well soon messages, thank you very much.

If this year couldn't get any worse, I fall unwell big time. I got a massive tension headache to the point everything looked like it was swaying from side to side and I can't even walk without wobbling. On top of that I was sick about 4 times the night before.

Despite being cancelled, the only things I don't like about 'The Adventures Of Thomas' are Sodor being a separate train only world and the steam vs diesel conflict being an allegory for WW2. The latter has so many red flags.

A late September sunset. Just beautiful.

As flawed as Hornby Emily is, it does have some sentimental value. It was a birthday present from my late granddad. I still remember talking to him on the phone thanking him for it. FUN FACT: This image was taken in 2016 during production of certain film I never finished.

One thing I don't like about 'Really Helpful Engines' is that they say the engines have engines. But aren't they the engines? They're not cars. Mind you it's not the first time this has happened. It happened in 'You Can Do It Toby' and even 'Toby in Quarantine'.

I love Chris Woodworth as Henry. His line delivery on Henry lecturing Percy got a chuckle out of me.

Daisy is starting to take shape. Just her lining and crest to go. I've painted her buffers white for the time being. Maybe they'll be given a different colour.

031

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

Daisy now has her paint. Despite feeling very depressed for pretty much the whole of this year, railway modelling has at least kept my spirits up a bit.

021

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

Still very tempted to make a custom model of Thomas's 'Adventures of Thomas' look. It's basically a case of finding the right or a similar shade of blue. The closest shades I could find are TS-15 Blue and TS-30 Brilliant Blue by Tamiya. Anyone know of anything similar?

252

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

Watched 'Really Helpful Engines' and... it's pretty good. Not perfect, but definitely a step up from BWBA and AEG. The voice acting is nice, the animation looks decent and at least it looks like Thomas again.

New purchases. Including some more 2026 diecasts.

143

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

It's only just occurred to me I never showed my completed model of Mavis. Shecwas completed towards the end of May.

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

"Higher and higher!" called the trucks. Made this out of boredom. The temptation to do an adaptation of 'Incline Thomas' is very tempting. Mainly just a case of pulling off the incline set itself.

132

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

2026 has been really depressing for me. Not only did a relative pass away at the beginning of the year and among other things, I've been unable to produce new content due to the ongoing bedroom rearrangements. These have really taken a toll on my mental health and motivation.

Got a Rapido Manning Wardle L Class from Monk Bar Model Shop in York. This one being Arthur. A lovely looking model. I can already hear people asking the questions about this model.

021

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

She looks good. The face is... OK. But it looks more like a Sadie face than a Rosie face. (Wink, wink, nuge, nuge)

I was browsing through my hard drive and found this book cover I made back during the university days. From what I remember, the series took place in a shunting yard before it was changed to a heritage railway as we see today.

Gap filled in. The roof was too long so was shortened and now fits.

111

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

I'm waiting for a new thermostat to be put on my radiator and a new bed to be ordered before I can continue bedroom rearrangements. And once that's done, I can finally get back to producing content. This has been the main reason why my channel has been so quiet this year.

1125

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 14/08/2026

According to Chris Awdry, 'Trouble on the Line' from 'Thomas and The Great Railway Show' was watered down by the publishers. It's unknown what happens in the original draft, but if I were to guess: Maybe it was a crowd member that falls in front of Thomas.

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 13/08/2026

3 new purchases. A Highley Mining Company wagon by Dapol. And two new 2026 diecasts. One being Diesel and the other being the Oliver and Toad two pack.

Since people have brought up that petition to eliminate Day Out With Thomas events, here's what I think of the situation:

021

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 11/08/2026

Brainstorming some title names. Two I've got at the moment are: 'Showmans Rally' and 'Showmans Traction'. If you have any ideas for titles drop them below.

022

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 09/08/2026

A lot of you sound interested in this traction and showmans engines series idea. If it does go ahead then it will most likely be made after season 3 of Steam Railway Stories and the Dom saga. But what I can say is that this series is planned to be shot with stop motion animation.

042

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

I've added this pipe thing to Dom. It was made using a one of those cable wire things you get with something like earphones, which was then painted accordingly. Not sure what it's purpose is though.

153

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 06/08/2026

After a bit of work, 2026 Thomas has painted and added details. Still thinking on how I'm gonna do the side rods.

074

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 05/08/2026

And here he is out of the box and he looks good. My plan is paint the buffers, footplate, lamps, whistle, add the cab portholes and maybe give him siderods akin to Ertl and the 80th Anniversary diecasts.

030

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 05/08/2026

The 2026 reboot merch has finally hit stores (In this case The Entertainer) in my hometown.

120

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

I got this Oxford Die-cast Traction Engine in Pickfords blue earlier this year from a model railway exhibition at the SVR. Seeing as I have quite the collection of Oxford Die-cast showmans engines thanks to my uncle, I'm feeling inspired to make a series with them. Should I?

043

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

Not much progress has been done to this model. But it now has details like lamp irons and has been primed. More details will be added at a later date. Still not saying what this is going to be though.

131

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

Why am I recording the sounds of a computer mouse? Simple: Foley Sound recording. Foley sound recording is when you use everyday objects to make sound effects for media productions. A lot of old Disney films used this practice.

131

Dominic Rogers @domthehunslet.bsky.social · 14/07/2026

Haulwen now has her nameplate and builders plate and her cab footsteps painted. Unfortunately, I had made her lining too small. So I'll need to resize it.
