Wim Wenders has announced the withdrawal of his film WRONG MOVE (1975) from all distribution and public exhibition, following a request from Nastassja Kinski over a nude scene filmed when she was 13. My translation of Jean-Claude Biette's Cahiers du cinéma review of the film is now up on Substack.

A beautiful expansion of what I referred to as “botany lessons” in my Goodreads write-up of Radiant Terminus ("Lists as mantras, rants, and invocations/incantations; botany lessons (Naming the Taiga)...")

Topics discussed: French verb conjugations, le fantastique, and the advantages of mono sound — with passing and not-so-passing invocations of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet, Paul Vecchiali, Antonin Artaud, Luc Moullet, Vladimir Jankélévitch, Baruch Spinoza, and Clément Rosset.

I recorded a new song called Line Missing. Not much else to say, except for these two quotes: “Very seldom does a poem simply emerge: a poem is made.” — Gottfried Benn “A poem does not arise from feelings, but from words.” — Mallarmé silenicturn.bandcamp.com/track/line-m...

Today’s early afternoon jam: Andy Votel’s mixtape of unshazamable “classical” music ETUDES DU MÉTAL ORTOLAN (DDS, 2023). “After capture, the [ortolans] are fattened up … before being drowned in Armagnac. Then they are plucked, cooked, and eaten whole, bones and all – everything but the beak.”
