Pope Francis lived with half of one of his lungs for many years due to an infection in his youth. If they got all of Pope Leo's cancer he'll be fine. That's my hope and prayer, anyway.

If you feel compelled to give to a candidate's election fund do it through their official, authorized website. Do not respond to text or email solicitations. Many of them are frauds and phishing scams.

What this tells me is that it is nearly impossible for children younger than 12 to understand abstract concepts. They have not developed yet to grasp the concept of artificial intelligence. They may understand it's not human but they really cannot understand the implications.

We should all know human stages of development, according to Piaget, approx years: Sensory Motor (birth-2), develop object permanence Pre-operational (2-7), egocentric, learning language Concrete Operational (7-11), logical, hands-on learning Formal Operational (12-adult), abstract concepts

"I know nothing about this person" says more about his ignorance than about her, "and neither does anyone else" is exactly why the Nobel Prize honors her. To make her work known. If you want to know more about her:

Navi Pillay wins Nobel Peace Prize after long career of investigating war crimes
International human rights lawyer Navi Pillay won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday. The Nobel Committee said it chose her as “institutions of international law are under political attack.” Hours later,...

"Trump said that the congressman should be serving a long-term jail sentence..." Clear admission that the pardon was political. The pardon is in the constitution to right wrongs, not to serve as a political tool.

He's stuck in the old testament mentality of an eye for an eye. Something the Gospel Jesus preached against.

The last public execution was in the 1930s with the hanging of a black man. What does that tell us?

It's a loaded word, and I don't use it lightly, but the only word I can come up with for what's being done to our public lands is rape. They're being defiled.

We're stuck in old testament mentality. An eye for an eye. While I'm sickened at the heinous crimes this man committed, as a society we need to find more humane methods of justice.

Meaningless spectacle. The translation that is prescribed is the archaic wording that is pretty much jibberish to school kids. Unless they've had it explained to them in Sunday school they won't understand it, which misses the point. The targets for the preachy lawmakers are the unchurched heathens.

If we must go to a "permanent DST" then I propose we change the clock face to read with 1 at the top, to align with the sun. Midnight and midday would still be at the top. We can begin the day at 1 am, which makes more sense, anyway. 12 pm would be the end of the day, which also makes more sense.

Don Bernhard @domabe.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
The clock has developed over thousands of years to reference the sun. Keep it as is (standard time). If schools and businesses want to start earlier or later there's nothing stopping them from changing their schedules. No need to force everyone to change by moving the reference point.

I hate it when ordinary, innocent people have names appropriated for and associated with hate. I feel for Karens and Brandons. They are perfectly good names. Quit using them as code words to disparage people you don't like. I feel it every time I hear anyone speak ill of "the Donald."

Good article explaining the redrawn district. I hate the idea of candidates choosing their voters instead of the other way around, but I appreciate the information in the article... and I truly hope the possibility of it backfiring by creating more swing districts comes true.

He thinks it's a good thing and will win votes. That's how out of touch he is. In reality it's an unpopular idea. And you are correct. PBS even had a story on it this past summer. www.pbs.org/newshour/nat...

America already tried permanent daylight saving time. Could it work now?
It's an idea whose time, as it were, may have come — again.

After that, one hour won't be enough. Let's then move the clocks forward another hour, then another. We can have daylight until midnight! Take daylight from the morning and give it to the evening. This is just like taking taxes and giving it back as a gift... and Americans keep falling for it.

"Our department is, you might say, putting on the full armor of God, because while we wage physical war, we all know the real battle is spiritual," he said. He better not celebrate Christmas, which announces the coming of the Prince of Peace. That would be antithetical to his ideals.

If the vote does go their way, I wonder what the current, lame duck, GOP led congress will do between Nov and Jan to try to prevent any of it from happening. Or what DJT will do. It could get ugly.

It's time? It has always been time. That should be standard practice. Corruption should not be allowed in the first place. Politics should always be first and foremost for the people. It's a weakness of the system that it has gone this far without being checked.

"Midterm Convention" is not a thing. Political conventions have been for delegates to cast their votes for president. There's no voting at this convention. It's just another DJT pep rally.

I also wish there was a way to keep pardons from being partisan. I understand the need for pardons. They provide an escape for injustices. But it's been turned into political favors and rewards. I don't have an answer, but it needs to be addressed.

I did not read the article so I may be repeating what it says, but the executive order is out of control. It is for emergency use only. There definitely needs to be time limits and other hard limits on it. (Your gift article still requires a log in, which I don't have.)

Also, only congress can authorize federal spending. It's very unlikely he gets them to sign off on it.

We don't have to almost all be using fossil fuels for driving around, but any effort to move forward, away from it, gets railroaded by big oil interests. If we had continued to move away from fossil fuel cars, as was the effort during Obama administration, this all wouldn't matter nearly as much.

The best coders and technicians I know are ones who know their target subject best. Musicians make the best music software. Artist make the best art software. You cannot start with technology. You must start with learning human skills.

As Ms Singer says, "human, human, human." To learn technology before learning to be human is upside down, cart before the horse logic.
