I figured there was the added bonus of getting Maduro to testify to whatever crazy conspiracy theory would help this president. Then, after being useful he could go live in Russia, where most former Putin tools retire. (Thus avoiding justice in The Hague or a future democracy in Venezuela.)

The last time Mitch was up for reelection, in Kentucky, he arranged to have sanctions lifted on a Russian aluminum company so they could promise to open a plant there. It helped him win but then never happened. RUSAL was pretty happy to still have that sanction lifted though.
