Our team, led by @kylecampbellyyc.bsky.social ran a strong campaign, winning Calgary-Shaw over by focusing on what truly matters to them. Thank you to everyone who put in the work to get us here. Tonight, we celebrate. Tomorrow, we'll keep building the better future we all deserve.

Tonight shows that Alberta's NDP is building huge momentum here in Calgary, and across the province. We know better is possible. The historic result in Calgary-Shaw proves it. Thank you to Kyle and to every single person who put in the work to get us here. /1

The smaller side can win a referendum — or at least make it close
A side that's behind in the polls can still win if the other side stays home. Try it with the Alberta separation vote.

The claim that organizers gathered roughly 300,000 signatures on a separation petition rests entirely on statements made by one individual: Mitch Sylvestre.... Yet, Mitch’s number has dominated public discourse as an accepted fact. thewalrus.ca/did-alberta-...

A very important clarification about the Alberta Electoral Boundaries Commission report. The recommendation to consider increasing the number of seats was not a majority proposal. It was the Chair's.

Sadly anything is possible with this government but I do believe the legal challenges would be immediate and fierce. It would be extremely difficult to try and call an election in that situation.

Going with the minority report will land them in court instantly where they'll lose. Even for this govt. the juice isn't worth the squeeze. As long as they have rural, south Calgary and the donut they win. The seat math is brutal.

@naheednenshi.bsky.social asked every Alberta MLA to sign a straightforward pledge declaring they are proud Albertans, proud Canadians, and that they oppose separatism. Are UCP MLAs proud Albertans and proud Canadians? Or are they separatists? Their silence speaks volumes.
Graphic titled “Pledge to Our Constituents” over a faded Canadian and Alberta flag background. The text states that signatories affirm they are proud Albertans, proud Canadians, and oppose separatism. A summary shows party participation: Alberta’s New Democrats, 38 of 38 signed; United Conservatives, 0 of 47 signed; Independents, 0 of 2 signed.
