3D polygonal landscapes in VistaPro 1.0 (1992) This was an old program for rendering 3D terrain, as well as randomly generating your own. It supplied a beautifully-cluttered interface with a couple variables you could adjust to your liking for the perfect landscape. It used the USGS Digital E[...]

Tried out this 1997 PC game called Interstate '76, where primitive 3D graphics meet cheesy 70s action. Had to check it out as soon as I heard about it. In this game, the once-great vehicular combat genre is the stage for a world where America never recovered from the 70s oil crisis. Long story[...]

part three of three (i promise) of my weird trip in old home design software, now looking at some cutting-edge texture-mapped 3d graphics. right on your home computer! featuring Home Design 3D (1996) and 3D Home Architect Deluxe 4.0 (2001)

Another quick trip into the past, a magazine from 1931 titled Country Home (known as Farm & Fireside prior to 1930). Geared towards rural Americans and farmers, published monthly out of Illinois from 1877-1939. Picked it up recently at a used book store. Got to ta... see complete post

Letters from readers section, titled "Forum and Ag'in 'Em". The subheading says "Of hair restored by television, communism, sympathy, Mrs. Cook, cemeteries and official bulls."

The magazine cover, with title "Country Home". Illustration of a wooden birdhouse with a blue bird sat beside it, and a suburban house in the background.

Teaser for an article coming in the next issue, it says "This, they tell us, is the age of standardization. We eat standardized beans out of standardized cans. We listen to standardized jazz out of standardized radios. (skip forward...) We even, they say, think standardized thoughts with our standardized thinking machines. But You Can't Standardize Farmers."

One of many ad sections in the magazine. In this picture: roofing, build-it-yourself homes, farmer agents, guns, and typewriters.

Some panels from issue 1. The main character analyzes a "bugbomb". "Uses a rat brain - cheaper than a microchip any day!"

Some panels from issue 2. Shows some of the 80s fashion put into this comic.

Special cover of issue 1. A man posed with his gun aimed at the viewer. Standing in the street of a large city. Signs on the buildings say "Joy Division, Section 25, Portion Control, Hvn17, Xmal Deutchland, Brievement Francais". Most of those are bands, some
of them neither I nor a quick search can recognize.
