608/—‘Hokum’ There’s just something about Irish horror (after all, they invented Halloween), and McCarthy tells a heckuva scary story. Writer visits Irish inn where his dead parents honeymooned; a witch also lives there. Goes in many different and unexpected directions #Horror365Challenge #MutantFam

607/—‘The Monster Club’ 🎶Monsters are oh-KAY!’ Perfect gateway horror for kids. Anthology of 3 stories with a Price-Carradine wraparound. In each tale, the monsters are misunderstood, persecuted, or both. In the end, it’s the ‘hums’ (humans) who are the real monsters #Horror365Challenge #MutantFam

BONUS: The 3D mostly consists of a paddleball slapping pitchman trying to lure pedestrians into the wax museum. He keeps hitting the ball at the screen, seemingly to both prove and punctuate the three-dimensional effect.

606/—‘House of Wax’ Price’s 3D classic is still effective. Vinny is Jarrod, the wax sculpting genius betrayed by his partner, gets roasted, then resurfaces and reopens after making statues from real people. Gorgeous. BONUS: <spoilers> The thought occurred that at the end of her career, Joan made two films where her daughter is her nemesis (‘Berserk!’ and ‘Straight-Jacket’). ‘Mommie Dearest’ was published in 1978 after her death in 1977. Strange indeed

605/—‘Berserk!’ #HouseofSvengoolie Joan Crawford trades in her coat hanger for a bullwhip as the owner/ringmaster of a failing circus. Troupers start turning up dead, and suspicion falls on Joan (or the new high-wire guy). Lotta circus scenes make up much of the film #Horror365Challenge #MutantFam

That the Hardestys and Sawyers lived next to each other, that both grandpas were connected to the slaughterhouse, that Franklin knew the place well enough to know how to get to the swimming hole, all leads me to this BIG problem I have with the movie #GangDoesGiallo #TexasChainSawMassacre
